Los Angeles based drummer Branden Harper is on a mission to strike a perfect balance of tone, texture, dynamics, and feel within a musical context. This passion for balance began at an early age while growing up in such places as Puerto Rico, Jamaica, and Brazil...places where music, especially it''s rhythm has its roots in Africa. The sounds of salsa, samba, reggae, dancehall, and dub helped shape the future drummer. Living in America in such places as Austin, Seattle, and now Los Angeles, Branden explores the art of drumming while partnering with other musicians in a dialectical pursuit to evolve his individual approach. Surrounding himself with members of such creative artists as King Crimson, Critters Buggin, Tool, Fiona Apple, amongst others...Branden has learned first and foremost through these experiences the art of listening. "The universe was formed from sound...all matter is vibrating, it has energy, it has a motion. Everything you see on this planet vibrates at a specific frequency rate. Music therefore has a powerful presence in life. Music heals, liberates, and has the power to restore balance to the planet. In whatever capacity I find myself involved in music, my intention is to serve the music, and support the music in everyone."
