Gary Tomlinson has been a musician and singer since childhood. His roots are firmly planted in the rich gospel music of the Southern Baptist Churches he grew up in. He further developed his love for music as a drummer in Jr. / Sr. High school. At the age of eighteen, Gary''s experiences took a turn away from God and the church. He joined a prominent Rock & Roll band and travelled on the road for the next several years singing and playing drums all across the country. Gary has backed up such music greats as Gary U.S. Bonds (another Jacksonville Florida native) and Chubby Checker. Several bands and several years later as a beachfront bar owner and front man for his own popular North Florida band, Gary experienced the heartbreak of addiction and the eventual downfall that comes with living such a life. "Losing everything was truly divine intervention.", says Tomlinson. "God knew just how to break me and put me to my knees, just where I needed to be!"
Gary left the night club scene and never looked back. God took Gary''s addictions and one-by-one stripped away the layers of sin that Gary had heaped upon himself for so many years. At the urging of his father Harral, and mother Ruth he returned to the church that he had grown up in where he found the joy and fullfillment that had been missing for those twenty years.
Gary said, "Being given a second chance to get it right is a blessing I never thought possible. God has saved me, restored me and given me a music ministry to boot. It doesn''t get any better than this! Oh What a Savior!"
Gary''s testimony was a featured spot on the 700 Club airing in 2000. The phone response was among the highest received at the 700 Club phone banks.
