FOLK: Modern Folk, EASY LISTENING: Mature

Details:
In 2007, americana singer-songwriter, Kev Rowe released his second critically acclaimed solo cd, Into the Gold. On Into the Gold, Kev brings together all of his various talents as a vocalist, songwriter, guitarist, instrumentalist and composer to the forefront, and there they shine, literally like gold. Kev Rowe’s diverse musical tastes and unique sound feels like peering into a musical kaleidoscope. Often compared to Paul Simon or James Taylor, his warm singing voice, sweet guitar playing, and mature sense of melody all contribute to him being the complete package as an artist. 2007 is proving to be a groundbreaking year for Rowe as he continues to travel across the country playing colleges, theatres, festivals and music halls opening for national acts like Michael Glabicki of Rusted Root, the rising Ryan Montbleau Band, and many others. His new cd also includes Rowe playing a piano he borrowed from Jamestown friend, 10,000 maniacs’ Dennis Drew, and features many talented guest musicians, such as Uniit Carruyo (Sim Redmond Band, Five2), Amanda Barton (Big Leg Emma), and a versatile folk/jazz rhythm section. In the Fall of 2005, Kev Rowe, the former lead guitarist of Jamestown’s well known roots rock band, Big Leg Emma chose to concentrate solely on his solo career and since has performed a full touring schedule in addition to recording and producing Into the Gold.
Kev Rowe’s solo career began in July of 2004, when he released an all-acoustic solo CD, Brown Book. Brown Book would be the culmination of many years of experience for Rowe as he had long been a fixture in the touring band scene. Brown Book would be highly praised for its artistry, thought-provoking, honest, and intimate lyrics and a sense of realness missing from most modern music. Brown Book accumulated several songwriting contest awards (see attached list) and despite the awards, touring success, and praise, Kev’s greatest desire has always been to reach beyond the superficial and move people to something very meaningful, deep and unique.
Throughout Kev Rowe’s music career as a solo artist and with Big Leg Emma, he has toured nationally playing hundreds of shows and festivals. His show has a wide range of material spanning from unhurried, intimate songs, upbeat, inspirational songs, and some first class guitar playing, singing, and craftsmanship. In addition to touring solo, Rowe has now also formed a group of talented musicians to tour in an ensemble setting with Kev Rowe and Band. Also, in the western NY original music community he is the driving force behind https://www.tradebit.comn Records, a community based Indy label. Kev’s personal discography includes 5 cds (two with 5 Cubic Feet, 1 with Big Leg Emma in 2004, The Color of Wind, the highly praised solo cd, Brown Book in 2004, and his newest offering, Into the Gold in 2007.). As a well-rounded innovator and musical force he continues to advance the classic craft of songwriting to a new level.
Throughout his career Rowe has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with:
Little Feat 10,000 maniacs Keller Williams
Donna the Buffalo David Grisman The Weepies
Del McCoury Band Derek Trucks Band Sam Bush
Mike Glabicki (Rusted Root) The Horseflies
