MP3 Meredith Meyer - Items You Won't Find Elsewhere
A kaleidescopic pop/rock mixture, with an intelligent variety of instrumentation and ice-cream vocals.
12 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Folk Rock, POP: California Pop
Hailing from Oklahoma City, Meredith Meyer spent the majority of her formative years in the midwest listening to music in her room (grounded), singing, doing theatre, and studying classical piano with a local famous church organist. After a series of unplanned travels in her life, she later "somehow ended up" in Los Angeles,CA. She has written/done vocals with several different music projects in Los Angeles, including performing at the artist Raymond Pettibon''s 2000 exhibit opening at the Museum of Contemporary Art with the band Trillion Stars.
In 2002 after departing with local indie rock band NOVAQ, Meyer met producer Brian Kehew, who had produced/engineered for AIR, Beck, Aimee Mann, Michael Penn, Eleni Mandell and more (Kehew also recently co-produced Fiona Apple’s album Extraordinary Machine, and co-wrote and researched the 2006 book Recording the Beatles, an extensive history of the band’s recording techniques endorsed by Abbey Road Studios).
Kehew’s talent for production and extensive knowledge of analog gear led Meredith to record her debut solo album at his own OFR Studios, and the album was completed in 2004 and released independently in 2005. Recorded and mixed entirely on 2” tape, ITEMS YOU WON’T FIND ELSEWHERE was featured https://www.tradebit.com (a website devoted to records throughout history using the mellotron), and has been commended for its integrity in songwriting and production.
Since the album’s release, Meyer has been steadily writing new songs and creating her own following around the Los Angeles music scene, playing out with her band “The Kindred Spirits.” She is known among her musical peers for seeking out more interesting places, like art galleries, ice cream parlors, and “70’s steak joints in the valley.” While fitting into the category of her female musical predecessors: Suzanne Vega, Beth Orton, Aimee Mann, or Fiona Apple, her voice and songwriting definitely carry her own inventive signature sound. She is currently preparing to record her second full length album.
“[ITEMS YOU WON’T FIND ELSEWHERE] is a remarkably assured, confident and mature release, bursting with great arrangements and great tunes…On the basis of her first release, Meredith Meyer has a very, very good future ahead of her.”

“***1/2…’Up close and intimate’ vocals that give the impression she’s singing the songs for you alone.”
