I retired on June 1, 2006, after a 28 year career as a State Trooper in the Missouri State Highway Patrol. I''m now following my lifelong passion of songwriting. (I guess you could say I gave up ticket-writing for songwriting!) I''ve been married to wife, Kathy, for 33 years and have four grandchildren, two boys and two girls. I''ve been writing songs for nearly 40 years. I write lots of gospel and country songs. My writing was strongly influenced by listening to Merle Haggard as I was growing up; although I don''t admire his lifestyle. The songs are unique in content and cover a lot of ground with lyrics that are thought provoking and interesting. The "Church and State" C.D. is NOT a "cookie-cutter" sound! It''s fresh and each song tells a story or has a theme that''s easily understood. There are five gospel songs, five "people" songs and two humorous tunes. All of your emotions will be touched by this album. The songs are all my original songs and the C.D. features "live" musicians with no computer generated sounds.
