Alternative Rock, present, past and future: Driving to melodic, raucous to downright dirty; whatever it takes, to put the music in your ear and the message in your face.
Three Years Ago, Clint and I, and several of our musician friends were burning the midnight lamp, obsessing over the sorry state of the Art: Music, with a Capital “M” and how it had steadily deteriorated over the years to formulaic drivel. Corporatization had gone too far; beyond the industry side of the equation and penetrated to the very heart -- the Art -- of The Music. The Industry and the music it created had become stagnant and bloated; favoring “entertainment” value at the expense of the fundamental value that Music holds for the Human Spirit: a universal language; one that had been captured and harnessed to the money “machinery” and then driven -- like a beast of burden -- to carry the excess baggage of a profit-minded Few. Along the way, it had become mired in tried but tired Forms -- locked into a downward spiral -- accelerated in its plunge by mono-minded power brokers -- lunatics -- who know less about Music and People than they do about Money.
The Music was dead; it just didn’t know it yet; and Gravity was about to collect for the ride.
As that long night wore on, Talk turned to Action and said: “Why don’t we DO something about it?” One thing led to another, and our Muse soon found us at work and, ‘round about sunrise, the lyrics and music for “Dead” were born; and from the ashes of that Night THE SPOONS arose, like the Phoenix, to take on the new day. “THE SPOONS?” ...you might ask. To answer: a Spoon is a simple device used for feeding oneself. We are THE SPOONS... Use us! Feed your head! There’s plenty to go around and a lot more where that came from.
