The Early Years...
(as told by greg pittman)

. . .It all began in 1997.  Me and my best friend, Chris Cane, yearned for some good local music.  But it was at a time when the only local bands around were either Nirvana rip offs or try-to- hard hard rock bands. Most local bands were just complaining about how there dads left them (which is not unlike what we do in our song, OUR OLD HOUSE , but damn it, that''s a good song) or how nobody liked them.  So they picked up guitars and started screaming, and not really caring about the music. So I decided to learn the guitar and begin a band called FIZZ with Chris.  My only real musical influence was Green Day at that time, so most of what came out, had that three-chord sound.

. . .Chris eventually found a butt ugly girlfriend named Rachel and left FIZZ behind, along with any respect people had for him.  So I was left listening to crap music, from crap bands.  With the advice and encouragement of my new best friend Paul Aleman, I began playing music again and a new sound emerged.  I took about 3 minutes thinking of a name.  X-RATED PRESENTS was the best I could come up with (and FYI, it''s presents as in presenting something, not like gifts).  Well, being that one-man punk bands aren''t the norm, I began the search for other band members that were willing to try something new and different.

The Middle Years...
(as told by anthony pittman)

. . .I got tangled in this web toward the beginning of XRP.  At the time, I didn''t really sing or play bass, but I had played trumpet all throughout high school, and I was pretty good at it, so I decided to help Greg out and give XRP a try.

At the time of XRP''s sperm era, we were still lacking the beat we needed.  To top it off, Greg and I were living in separate cities (I was in Austin, attending the University of Texas, while Greg remained in high school in San Antonio).  Our cousin Mike joined the band briefly.  He helped us create MONDAY and OUR OLD HOUSE.  However, Mike''s departure to Illinois proved to be the condom that would prevent "X-RATED PRESENTS" from sprouting.  We soon searched for any beat we could use, and we found Crystal, who played in our high school band as well.  She helped us record our first CD demo and played our debut performance at Sam''s Burger Joint in San Antonio, which proved to be stimulating.  But, our sound was still lacking the X-RATED orgasm needed to please, so we went into a short period of musical impotence, desperately seeking the right drummer.

Finally, the lubricant was added when I talked about the band to one of my co-workers who, in turn, referred me to a man named Juston Hairgrove.  I showed him our first 8 song demo CD (that was pretty under par) and auditioned him.  Realizing that the pitiful demo CD wasn''t going to get him into the band, I tried to lure him in with outrageous statements of large scale touring...

The Last Few Days or So....
(as told by juston hairgrove)

. . .Anthony (this random guy that I''d never even seen before) approached me about playing drums in his band that was, according to his ass, playing the Warped Tour in the summer.  LIES!  All of it LIES!  But I didn''t find that out until it was too late...

Anyways, so I agreed to practice with Anthony here in Austin, to see if I was interested... before I knew it, I was recording with them in San Antonio at a local studio.  After that, I was pretty much in it for good... I got hooked on the music that Anthony and Greg created together.  I found myself singing along to their songs instead of whatever was on the radio or in my CD player.  We started to gig around San Antonio... then we recorded AGAIN with some asshole with a pony tail... I forget his name, but he really harshed my buzz, figuratively speaking.  But, no matter what sucked about my first experiences with XRP, the music kept me there... and I''ve become close friends with Greg and Anthony.

After the shaky beginnings, we all moved up to Austin on a permanent basis.  We''ve done some more gigging in various cities in Texas and some more recording right here in Austin.  We''ve finally got a CD that pleases us all.

THE END,
of the beginning.
