Eclectic music by a sextet

10 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Jam-band, ROCK: Acoustic

Details:
In the year 2002, Embas is created based on the idea of making a musical blend never heard before. Basically, they are a rock band, and yet the mixture of styles makes people wonder what kind of music they are making. Leonardo Jenkins (Acoustic guitar /// lead vocals), Ruyman Gilbert (drums /// vocals), Carlos Rosales (Electric Guitar), Frank Sapene (Bass /// Vocals), Carlos Baez (Violin) and Luis Jesus Mata (Keys) integrate Embas, and everyone brings their one musical tastes along with their own influences, resulting in a musical range that goes all the way from Gypsy Jazz, to Funk, Folk, Soul and even Trip-Hop… in other words, Embas’ music is what we could call “Eclectic music” , hence their name, which is the acronym for Eclectic Music By A Sextet

That same year, in june, they decide to participate in a very well renowned music festival called “Alma Mater Rock” (for college’s bands). Having just enough repertoire to fulfill the time-limit condition, and being their first live performance as a musical band, Embas drew enough media attention to relieve and improvised interview from the national music TV station “Puma TV”.

The years 2003 – 2004 were all about playing live gigs in many Caracas’ trendy musical spots such as “La Belle Epoque”, “Le Moulin Rouge”, “Okupa Bar”, etc , as well as playing in different Universities across the country, with attendances of no less than 300 people. In every show, Embas delivered a strong and well coordinated performance and gave away demo tapes for the audience.

Embas was acknowledge with the invitation for participating in the most distinguished music festival ever made in Venezuela, the “Festival Nuevas Bandas” in 2005, receiving all kinds of credits and respect from the audience as well as the media

“The contest opened with very short performance from the very best of the entire festival, the Caracas-based Embas, a musical hybrid of infinite influences that made people shout and enjoy with their excellent show…. No electronic, no hard rock, no Latin fusion….”Encore, Encore, Encore!!”, and was one of the participating ones…..” (JeanFreddy Gutiérrez, https://www.tradebit.com about the Festival Nuevas Bandas 2005”)

In june 2004, and under the production of Xavier Losada (a very well known composer of theater music), Embas begins to record their very first full-length album, later called “Suburbia”, at Remoto Studios (Wahala’s “Homegrown”, Los Mentas’ “Masacre en el Pin 5” and Los Oceanicos’ “Los Oceanicos”). This album, with 10 musical pieces, reassure the eclecticism achieved by these six musical minds throughout the past four years, with a profound sense of equilibrium between hook songs and thoughtful lyrics.
