The Exploding Fuck Dolls started in 1991 when the Godoys and Kevin Edman joined forces, recruited Devin Gilmore on bass and they were off...though originally sort of glam looking, due to Kevin''s hollywood influences, and Devin''s long hair, the band''s sound was definitely punk. Almost a year''s worth of gigs, planning and writing for the debut release, a recording date was set and it all was ended in a tragic heroin overdose which saw kevin move on to better things...the most creative genius was the only one in the band who did drugs....Devin high tailed it to Hollywood and the Godoys were left to pick up the pieces. These are rough details...but shortly before Kevin died, Duane Peters was gonna replace Devin on bass but since, he was a much better singer, that''s where he landed after Kevin Died...the Goat Man, an old friend and band mate joined in on second guitar and Ricky Johnson, goat''s co worker was installed on the bass. This line up generated the most interest. Especially in Orange County where the Fuck Dolls were THE major players in kickstaring the whole punk revival. Bands like Sublime, No Doubt (pre-gwen) Fu Manchu, the Offspring, Pennywise, DI, Melvins, Social Distortion, Big Drill Car, Aquabats, the Ziggens, Smile ...all shared the bill with the Exploding Fuck Dolls, at one time or another, with the Dolls headlining. "Bull shit!" you may be saying, but it''s true! The Fuck Dolls were on the way to being real big shit. This was the time of Seattle''s ugly influence in the music scene. Grunge was happening and this was no way to be. The song "American Bomb" was written to represent the band and to represent what every punk/Fuck Dolls fan was feeling at the time. The Dolls knew it was too late to save everyone so they decided, "Fuck it, let''s try, but, fuck Seattle, let''s blow up the hippies". Our lyrics told it all-"Only know your views are wrong,your flowers and your hippy songs!" We still sing American Bomb in our live set in our new band. Look at Seattle now...they have a good scene. These years were so full of change and there were major record labels interest in the band but due to the offensive name and some internal personal politics, the Exploding Fuck Dolls could not hold it together and this line up disolved without even reaping the rewards that their contemporaries did. Over the last 15 years, several members have been hired and fired, and sometimes things didn''t work out...the story is a real rock-n-roll tragedy, with some real comedy moments, it''s a story or resiliency and dedication. We put out 2 singles, 3 videos and have a bunch of great songs unveiled on the self released cd-''Here''s to Your Fuck!'' and also on the Disaster Records release-''Crack the Safe''. Is there an anthology in the works complete with all 3 videos???? COULD BE!!! Never give up!... The band''s street credibility is pure...all the line-ups produced some real gems, stories and songs that would make all the impostors out there scared. There was no paved road, no tour support, no label to promote the band. No joke.
