MP3 Gregory Page - Happiness Is Being Lonely

Beautiful and aching, the sound of remorse tempered by dark humor. This CD is a gorgeous example of the seemingly lost art of finding beauty in disappointment and sorrow. It''s lonesome music that is the sonic equivalent of Jack Kerouac''s "On the Road."

10 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Acoustic, POP: Quirky

Details:
Gregory Page may indeed be obscure, but it certainly isn''t for want of talent. The singer-songwriter appellation isn''t really sufficient to convey what he does. His album Happiness Is Being Lonely is quirky and has an off-beat charm and introspective style which is thoroughly entertaining. Gregory & originals like him are few and far between, and the world is undoubtedly a better place for their artistic presence.

An album note from Gp ~
"These songs were all written over a month of walks down into the Florida Canyon. Don''t let the title fool you, this is a Melancholy CD. Lyrically speaking "Happiness Is Being Lonely" does have a positive out look. If you like melancholy music this record is essential for you to own."

Three Questions For Mr. Page

At times, your music is impossibly sad--even the song "So Happy" makes me want to curl up in the linen closet and tearfully rock myself to sleep. I guess what I''m asking is, has your career been a 20 year long cry for help?"

Gp ~ "It''s true that at times I can be a melancholy fellow who is Positively Negative. Don''t let the title of my album "Happiness Is Being Lonely" fool you, it''s not an up beat CD and I don''t recommend that you put it on at a dance party. There is a terrible beauty in slow music, and my 20 year musical adventure is more of a long Yawn for help. A few weeks ago after a concert I performed in Hollywood an A&R man from a major record label talked to me outside the night club, saying how much he enjoyed my show. I asked why he would not sign me then? He said that my music is too sensitive.. I replied ''Hearing that hurts my feelings..'' He also told me what he likes to listen to and what he signs are two different things".

Whats your worst brush with somone who is famous?

Gp ~ "When I opened for Jerry Jeff Walker his audience was very rude and they began to shout insults while I was singing . I drank a bottle of red wine on stage and played a 10 minute version of the slowest saddest song I had written (My Insignificant Other from my album Happiness Is Being Lonely).
I could hear Jerry''s band rocking on stage so I crept into his dressing room to borrow a bottle of his wine and he walked out of the bathroom and caught me red handed, and proceeded to yell and scream at me. I grabbed a banana from his fresh fruit bowl and told shouted "Back off Mr. Bojangles ", the security guys were cool about it but I had to leave the building."
