Details:
Greg Minix started using his talents for Christ upon becoming a Christian in 1998. Since then, he has devoted his life to spreading the message of salvation through his music. Minix feels for the hip-hop culture, which is trapped in the same worldly mentality that Minix himself came from. His passion is to bring hip-hop fans out of the godless state that he was once in by sharing the life changing principals that are found in God’s Word.
Minix started his ministry at Syracuse University where he studied art. He teamed up with Nancy Lopez and Omar Fernandez (Harlequin & S.T.R.) to form a group called CrossLink. The SU Campus Crusade for Christ, BASIC (Brothers And Sisters In Christ), and Chi Alpha sponsored many of their events, including the annual “Hip-hopolypse”, which has featured Frankie Cutlass. SU celebrated their ministry as they walked away from the Jabberwock talent show with a first place trophy in the rap category. CrossLink went on to tour throughout the area, performing at Salvation Army camps and churches in NYC. Their ministry touched many lives.
After graduation, the trio had to part ways, but continues to keep in touch. Minix then joined 1.G. Ministries, founded by the talented Jeremiah Rhea, who turned down a deal with Ruff Ryder Records to pursue Christian rap. The team found success in securing a weekly radio show and opening for Christian hip-hop heavyweights such as KJ-52. However, the short-lived ministry disintegrated when some group members decided to pursue other interests. The untimely break-up of this second group convinced Minix to try out his solo legs.
Minix declared himself a solo artist and, over the next few years, released a series of demo CD’s: The Collabo, DEMOlition, DEMOn Assassin, and D.E.M.O.S. (Divine Everlasting Message Of Salvation). He improved with each attempt, gaining more exposure, more fans, and more opportunities to spread the message of Jesus. Minix attended the Urban Gospel Network’s Christian Hip-Hop convention in NYC and got feedback from legends such as Kid (of Kid and Play), Salt (of Salt-n-Pepa), DJ Kuts, and Frankie Cutlass. Minix continues to gather tips and pointers to further help him break into the music industry.
Greg Minix recently released his fifth solo project, aptly titled, “Round 5”. This demo signifies a major comeback for Minix, as he has been virtually silent for nearly three years since his last release. He later decided that he will never be able to walk away from his passion again and that he’s back for the long haul. He is up for the journey ahead and will continue to follow God’s lead in his life. He wants nothing more than to deliver an uplifting message to a hurting world. Minix loves hip-hop, but he loves Christ even more, and putting the two together has been a major blessing in his life as well as the lives of Minix fans everywhere.
