"For a long time, I have wanted to do a CD project with my son Ross! He started out on the trumpet when he was 6 years old and played for Wynton Marsalis. Wynton said, "Man, keep blowin'' man, you''re going to be "great" some day." By age 13, he had played trumpet "half his life" and came to me and said......."I want to quit this "trumpet stuff"..........so, I had a bass guitar in the closet and got him some lessons and he played bass for me in my school jazz band. But his "inner musical soul" was not satisfied! His older brother Scott was athletically inclined, but played the drum set in school and the drum kit sat "unused" in our basement. Ross started to play the drums incessantly, and got himself "hired" in a "half-step- chordal grudge band!!" It was then, that I got him lessons with a University drum instructor(Mike Blake),75 miles away, and paid for lessons for three years!! Ross is now the drummer for the University of North Texas, One O''Clock Jazz Band. As for me, the old man, I still play gigs around town and am guest soloist for college and high school bands. I have recently received an national mouthpiece endorcement from Warburton Mouthpieces. (https://www.tradebit.com) and think they are the best! Never underestimate the power of music and the soul!!!! It is with this GREAT HONOR that I pass the TORCH to my son Ross! Darn that Dream that I once had of becoming a musician!!
