Phat Quotes !!!

"The passionate, sweat-drenched, funk fueled groove could bring a priest to his knees. The last time we saw The Kelly Bell Band we had to have a cigarette when the set was ended." City Paper (Baltimore)

"At a time when both go-go and blues have stalled, The Kelly Bell Band illustrates how the two genres can help each other move forward." Geoffrey Himes/ Washington Post

" As timeless as the blues may be, Kelly Bell''s success stems from his ability to take such a classic form of music and add his own touch to it, combining rock, funk, and a head full of dreadlocks, with old fashioned Muddy Water''s blues." Chris Terry/The Towerlight

" The Kelly Bell Band smokes. From the Barry White-like monologue in "Sweet Wind & Soul" to the acoustic simplicity of "Mean to Me," Phat Blues Music is a CD that needs to be played over and over again." Ed Yashinsky/ Mode

"For Baltimore''s Kelly Bell, salvation and redemption go hand in hand with the blues. And thanks to Kelly Bell, all of Baltimore knows it, too! After various opening stints the likes of Bo Diddley and Bobby "Blue" Bland, Kelly Bell has made his signature in six-foot block letters." The Album Network

"Bell and band trade in the worn coin of bar bands everywhere -hopped-up blues. But they mint their own currency, so to speak, on this expansive work, referencing the blues without getting stuck in its dogma, and using their considerable musical imaginations and skills to elevate even the slightest song into something slick, sharp and soulful." Lee Gardner/City Paper (Balt.)
