These are songs that ring out to warm and brighten cold, dark nights; songs that ward off evil spirits; songs that bestow blessings for health and prosperity; songs that call out "allelujah," and songs that summon peace on earth and good tidings to all.
This collection of 20 gorgeous songs, collected from many lands and spiritual traditions throughout Eastern Europe, was recorded in the sublime acoustics of Skywalker Ranch by Leslie Ann Jones and produced by Grammy- nominee Linda Tillery. Accompanying KITKA are guest artists Rumen Shopov on tambura and bouzouki, Peter Maund on percussion, and Dan Cantrell on accordion. KITKA singers also accompany themselves on bells, percussion, violin, flute, and tamburas. A twelve-page booklet with beautiful artwork by Catherine Rose Crowther, song translations, and fascinating seasonal folklore is included with each disc.
