R&B New Soul Diva is a gift to the game with a style like no other. Her vocals are dynamic, sultry, and seductive.
Lynesse was born and raised in a Harlem, New York City Housing Project in a single parent home with Mom and older sister. The family was very musically inclined. Her sister and she used to create singing and dancing skits for their mother on different occasions. When Lynesse became a teenager she became a dancer; performing on MTV dance shows, Music Videos, and many other stage performances. She’s even hit the big stage as a contestant on the popular TV show “Star Search”. Her professional singing began when her older sister decided to start a singing group and noticed her little sister had some “pipes”. After the separation of the many groups, she decided to become a solo artist. She purchased equipment and started to produce, write, and perform her own works.
Now, here we are today with a born singer who’s been compared to the great Stephanie Mills. Her background is extensive as a singer. She’s lent her vocals to major recording artist and worked with many producers. To mention a few: “The Lox” including Jada Kiss; the late “Big L”; Roc-a-fella producer “Ski’ from Roc-a-bloc; Malik Pendleton, Jeff Robinson from “MBK Entertainment” and several others.
She’s performed at the well-known Harlem event “Harlem Week” and at clubs like SOBs, The Five Spot, Iguana, Club T-NY and many others. Currently you can catch her being featured in “Streets Mos” magazine and on several mix tapes with R&B DJs like “Action Pac” and DJ Thorough.
“Her Story” is not unique to all those from the “ghetto”. Growing up in Harlem gave her a life experience to talk about. Her songs are about love, life, “the hood”, and are very personal to her. She is proud of her upbringing, believing growing up where she did gave her the confidence and drive to strive for success - she wouldn’t be who she was with out it. This is the main reason why she named her debut Album “Her Story”. Understanding the toughness of growing up and always being on the edge has made her the lyricist and vocalist she is today.
Exposed and vulnerable is how she explains her music. You hear it and it’s like she opened a book to her life (and maybe yours) and said see me. “I hate to admit it” she says “but it’s all about me. I feel like I say what people feel, think, and may not want people to know”.
