Contemporary Gospel Singer, Songwriter, Speaker Noreen Corkum was born and raised in Enfield, Nova Scotia, Canada, the tenth of fourteen children. Encouraged and inspired by both parents to make music an important part of her life, she does not remember a time when she did not sing. By eight years of age, she was participating in school and church concerts, and singing three-part harmony in a choral group. At fifteen, she received her first guitar and although she had been writing poems since age eight, it was not until she was eighteen that she began to put her poetry to music.
1998 was a pivotal year for Noreen releasing her debut CD entitled "The Master Healer''s Hands." The Atlantic Gig writes, “Noreen’s voice rings like a bell above many others. Her warmth, sincerity and faith reflect in all of her songs. She has a wonderful calming influence in even the most scattered minds."
Her second CD a tribute to her faith in God,”Here I Am" was released in Nov 2003. A great deal of time and energy was put into the writing, arranging and co-producing. She is receiving wonderful reviews; they say that they love the eclectic nature of her latest CD “Here I am”. Her pure, sweet voice and lyrical skill present songs that are at times needy and confident, desolate and hopeful, questioning and trusting, weak and strong - themes that are personal and at the same time universal.
Noreen’s audience base grew as she began to tour, playing in churches, festivals and theme parks across the Maritimes. Her comfortable singing style and her gift of talking to the audience opened the doors for her to travel and speak on family issues.
In 2005, The Music Industry Association of Nova Scotia nominated Noreen for “Inspirational Artist of the Year” for her CD, "Here I Am".
Noreen continues to tour weaving together through testimony and song a beautiful tapestry of love and faith. She continues to excite her audiences with a combination of inspirational music and the spoken word. Noreen’s love for people, the beauty and power of her voice as well as her boundless energy all enable her to reach out and touch
the hearts of audiences of all ages. As a testament to her growing familiarity and success, we are excited to announce that Noreen’s music can be heard on various radio stations in Canada, United States, Italy and Australia.
