MP3 Paradin - Coma Digenean

shapeshifting, dark ambient

1 MP3 Songs
ELECTRONIC: Ambient, ELECTRONIC: Experimental

Details:
"The confrontational sounds that groan, wail and stagger across this 50-minute epic would disturb Jacques Cousteau on a good day—if he caught a glimpse of the sort of creatures that these noises he''d surely leap through the hatch of his bathyscaphe. Rather than taking the easy way out, using sub-aquatic presets to illustrate the disc''s raison d''etre, Fleury-Steiner instead loops the massed choirs of a thousand prehistoric beasties throughout a drugged Stygian tableaux. Strangely, the coarse drones and eerie voices don''t repel—they do in fact urge you deeper into their bizarrely fascinating lairs. Snag this one quickly before it vanishes forever into the depths."

-Darren Bergstein, e/i magazine

"Ben Fleury-Steiner is Paradin and he creates dark ambient that will render you (pleasantly) seasick. After a CDR release on the like-minded Mystery Sea label, Fleury-Steiner introduces his own curiously baptized imprint. Coma Digenean reaches down into deep and dark places the likes of which used to be explored by the likes of Lustmord. It is a single fifty-minute piece, though it often fades out, as if it were a sea creature of some gigantic proportion regularly reimmersing itself into underwater ravines and grottos and dredging up new sounds to join the constant, underlying drone and swell. Created with synthesizers, treated guitars, bowed metal and singing bowls, at times you´d swear you hear the see-sawing and underwater creaking of long forgotten, sunken frigates. Coma Digenean is a thing of dark and foreboding beauty."

-Stephen Fruitman, Sonomu
