Singer songwriter, Sally Culbertson Sieh, is a native Oregonian who has been entertaining audiences with her original compositions for over twenty-five years. She has performed in multiple venues, both as a solo artist and with small ensembles, including an international tour with The Continental Singers. She is a past member of the Portland Songwriters Association and currently has membership with the Jazz Society of Oregon and ASCAP.

Musicians featured on the CD include Craig Bidondo, keyboard; Dave Captein, upright bass: Graham Lear, drums; Victor Sharpe, saxophone; Tim Ellis, guitar and Brent Rogers, guitar. It was mixed and mastered by Dean Baskerville at Dead Aunt Thelma''s studio in Portland, OR.

1. SUNNY SUNDAY AFTERNOON
True confessions: In the old neighborhood where we used to live, I sometimes picked a few lilac blossoms off of large, full bushes. I had been thinking about writing a song that somehow incorporated the lilacs. When I asked my husband, Dan, what he thought I should write a song about, he said, “Lilacs”. I laughed - great minds think alike!
2. SIZZLIN’ SUE
Several years ago, I took a performance workshop and the instructor asked if I had ever sung anything sort of sexy bluesy. I guess she was trying to get me to broaden my repertoire. While she didn’t intend for me to actually go write something like that, my quirky brain wouldn’t let it rest. Lo and behold, Sizzlin’ Sue was born.
3. LONGING FOR YOU
In the fall of 1996, a good friend of ours died unexpectedly. Linda, even though there will be no more tears in heaven, do you think we’ll still sing sad songs? I think we will, but with happy hearts, appreciative of the Lord’s blessings and the joys of Heaven. If you get there first, say “Hi” to Gary for me.
4. A LOVE THAT LASTS
Before my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary, I interviewed them and learned a few things I’d never heard before. Then I had fun turning their story into a song. Mom and Dad, thank you for loving each other.
5. REAL COWBOY
My husband, Dan, grew up on a cattle ranch in South Dakota, so he knows about real cowboys. And now, so do I!
6. NOW AND AGAIN
I’ve heard it said that which is most personal is often most universal. That must be true. While it was scary to be so vulnerable in this song, everyone seems to be able to relate to it. I guess we’re all a lot more alike than we realize.
7. CRAZY AT CHRISTMASTIME
To set the record straight, I’m really not as bad as this song suggests. Well, maybe except for the forty-one holiday CDs!
8. GET OUT OF TOWN DAYS
I love the anticipation of having a whole weekend free to go somewhere different and do something out of the ordinary routine. Whaddaya say, sweetie?
9. MIDNIGHT BLUE
I wanted to write a song that sounded like it had been written a long time ago. I guess I was successful because when I first sang this for a coworker, she thought it was right out of theTin Pan Alley era.
10. COULD THIS BE THE ONE
I once heard a sermon where the teacher mentioned the idea of one of the original shepherds at Jesus’ birth later being at His crucifixion. I confess, I don’t know what the point of the sermon was. I was too busy thinking up this song! Isaiah 53:4-6
11. HOT CHOCOLATE DAY
My husband, Dan, is a landscaper and here in the Northwest, we can get some pretty miserable weather anytime of the year. Maybe now he’ll look forward to those dark, rainy days!
Interesting (or maybe not so interesting) tidbits about Sally:
* She has a twin brother. NO, they are not identical!
* She is legally blind. Sally has Retinitis Pigmentosa, which has left her with only about 20 degrees of her visual field.
* She loves homemade caramels, the first day of vacation and Earlene Fowler''s mysteries.
* She can''t abide yogurt, slugs and door to door sales people who ignore "No Soliciting" signs.
