The composer:
Sri Chinmoy is a meditation teacher who moved from India to New York City in 1964. He is, amongst other things, a prolific poet, painter, composer, singer and musician.
His numerous songs - more than 17,000 to date - have been as many facets of a seeker''s crying heart for God.
His compositions, sometimes deceivingly short and simple - much like a Zen poem - but most of the time surprising and unconventional, show an undeniable sense of artistry and reveal Sri Chinmoy as a formidable melodist.

"I have been performing Sri Chinmoy songs and music in public since 1984 within a Canadian music group called Shanti, playing the concert flute and the esraj - a bowed instrument from India - and more recently an Irish flute (Abell Whistle).
After all those years where this music has been inspiring me musically as well as spiritually, I felt compelled to offer my interpretations and arrangements of some of Sri Chinmoy''s songs as a feeble token of my gratitude-heart."
