Uncle Leuschner & the Chris Complex is an eclectic trio whose repertoire grows in a compost of lo-fi quirk and indiscriminant folk music. Once members of the infamous John K. Facey ensemble, ULCC was born on stage at Seattle''s Jewel Box Theater when their saxophonist and bassist decided not to show up. Since then, these three men have been followed deep into the art-holes of Seattle, riling up the natives with their jangled hash of hootenanny and tragedy. Diverse yet minimal instrumentation bears out their compositions like a strange goat to Greenland, each song constructed from the bricolage of ULCC''s group mind, often at the expense of such phenomena as Mark Twain, Peruvian folk music, or the board game “Payday”. Their live performances are layered with boozy mirth, emotional insinuation, and power tools. ULCC''s bunker stylings belie their intractable array of referents and influences, from Pablo Neruda to the Whitey Joe Dork Band.
