Extorian is a young band: formed by Heike and Olaf in the beginning of 2006 in Munich, the first song ideas were recorded to hard disk at home and put on the web site for fishing musicians. The bass player Wolfgang was soon found, the drummer Wolfram joined the band in August 2006, and in February 2007 also Raimond, called Ray, decided to join the band as second guitarist. To none of them you had to explain what doom metal is - in Munich a very rare characteristic of musicians and therefore condition of admission.
Extorian is an OLD band: Every musician has more than thirty years of live, session and studio experience. They all have lived that part of faster-harder-louder-more-complicated-more-extreme-more-evil-musicianship and found a new challenge in the sound of Extorian : Hard can be slow, evil can be melodic, less gets infinitely more if you just make it happen where it has to happen.
Extorian doesn''t defend the pure doom but take the typical elements like sublime slowness and lava-like approaching walls of guitars which change into a unique experience in metal with Heikes flesh-creeping melodies and compact arrangements. This sound should also appeal to many metal- and rock-fans outside the narrow doom-genre, if they have the attention span to appreciate the eight-minute-mini-epics Extorian is unleashing upon the listener.
