Mark Zauss was first inspired to play the trumpet seriously at age 10 after hearing a recording of Maynard Ferguson. This inspired Mark to practice 6 to 10 hours a day for several years. His dedication enabled him to develop a unique command of the extreme upper register along with improvisational skills in several musical styles. Mark’s sound is engraved with the masters he has performed with such as Arturo Sandoval, Branford Marsalis, James Moody, Marcus Printup, Pat Metheny, and many others. Mark is a trumpet artist for the G. Leblanc division of the Conn-Selmer Corporation along with Arturo Sandoval and the late great Maynard Ferguson.
“No Limits” is a dynamic mixture of swing, big band, Dixieland, and Be-Bop Jazz featuring trumpet virtuoso Mark Zauss and the powerful vocals of Kathy Zauss. “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” features Mark as he screams improvisational interpretations in the extreme upper register. “Makin’ Whoopee” features vocalist Kathy Zauss with the hard swinging Z Street Big Band featuring Mark on lead trumpet. “I Can’t Get Started” features Mark performing a beautiful lush version of this classic song then he rises to the stratosphere and performs a 3 octave cadenza for the conclusion. “Lester Leaps In” is set on fire and while the rhythm section simmers until Mark ignites the head the last time through. “Sing, Sing, Sing”, swing, swing, swings and features Mark on a trumpet solo at the end.
