MP3 Buckra - Fall of Porkopolis

Formed in 1998 from the ashes of the Rottweilers and Melvin Speed. Mission: to destroy corporate copycat rock and renew the underground music scene.

12 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Modern Rock, ROCK: Roots Rock

Details:

Buckra was formed from the ashes of two of the Midwest''s most infamous mid 90''s bands. The cult hero''s the Rottweilers (which features former members of Creeper Lagoon, Tierra Del, Pine, and Moth), and the college rock superstars Melvin Speed. Buckra is on a mission to revive the stagnant dying rock scene by giving it a swift but enjoyable kick in the ass!

Here is what people are saying about
"The Fall of Porkopolis"

CITYBEAT
"Muscular yet nimble, ... hurls through 12 blasts of spirited execution...There''s no waiting, and there''s always a groove."

CINCINNATI POST
"Buckra, another great addition to the power pop scene. ''The Fall of Porkopolis'' is a great collection of tunes"

MUSIC MORSELS
"Cincinnati''s foursome Buckra gives a wild kick and a spit in the eye to any sense of normalcy in the pop rock world. But considering what a lot of that normalcy has produced over the years, that''s actually a good thing.

"Think a little of the Bosstones without the horns and with cleaner vocals. Add in a bit of Run Westy Run, B-52''s, Dead Kennedys and you get an idea of some of the influences, but the music hops back and forth, keeping a certain distinguishable undercurrent that assures you it is the same band.

"Take the brash punk sound of "Dirty Mirage" and compare it to the frenetic jazzy lilt in "Trophey Song." But then comes the near heavy-metal guitar riff laden "Ransack" which is closely followed by the gin-house blues of "Lawn Man." Sounds hard to pigeon hole into one genre, doesn''t it?

"But in order to pull off this kind of mishmash, you have to have several elements, primarily players with talents, solid lyrics and well-written songs, and this band has all three. The lyrics tend to be tongue-in-cheek and that even adds more spice to the music.

"It is a trip where you don''t know what your next destination will be, but you''ll probably have a good time when you get there. "

SKRATCH MAGAZINE --REVIEW BY MIKE SOS
"Buckra is an eclectic Midwestern quartet that jangles, stomps, moves and grooves.

"Their 12 track disc is a rock and roll rollercoaster ride, twisting and turning your ears into many genres. From the jazzy tinged "Trophy Song" to the Jane''s Addiction flavored "Ransack", Buckra is a band that really can''t be pigeonholed.

"Leaning on the pop side of the rock world, Buckra mixes in some ska and soul for flavoring ("Trailer Parks") and aren''t afraid to knock you back a few generations with a ragtime guitar song ("Lawn Man").

"Buckra isn''t a band that will overpower you, but they will leave an impression for their clever song structures and usage of many different styles to create their own unique sound. Check them out if you like your rock left of center and multi-influenced."

Whew!! and that is just a few of them.
