Two and a half years in the making, the Field Recording All-Stars is now available. Dielectric''s three-volume take on spontaneous improvisation (Drone All-Stars, Minimalist All-Stars) is complete for now, (until inspiration or insanity intervenes).
This installment differs from the others because it wasn''t done by people in the same room, or even at the same time. This time, the improvisation occurred between the artists unknowingly, as they responded to a treasure hunt list of sounds. The sounds were grouped by topic and songs were created out of the interaction between them. Some of the artists also submitted a finished composition that was created from field recordings. These pieces were woven together with those created by Die Elektrischen to make up the final journey.
