THE ARTIST:
Josh Harris, the former saxophone soloist for Whitney Houston''s first two world tours developed a signature sound early on in his career which got the attention of sax greats Sonny Stitt, George Coleman, Branford Marsalis and Kenny G. In addition to working with Whitney, he has toured and worked with Grammy Award winning vocalist Jennifer Holiday, Mary Wilson of the Supremes, Freddie Jackson, Matt "Guitar" Murphy of the Blues Brothers, Martha Reeves and Vickie Sue Robinson. Festival appearances include the Kool Jazz Festival, The Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia, Italy, the Playboy Jazz Festival and the Water Festival in Stockholm.

As a front man for his own bands and projects, Josh sings lead and mixes his sets with instrumental and vocal songs. Being a multi-reed instrumentalist, Harris has worked on and off Broadway in addition to being a recording session player for TV sound tracks, both film and commercial ads and other artist recording projects. Recently he recorded several songs on flute and sax for a remix production of Bob Marley master tapes, to be released in 2007. The remix sessions have elements of drum & bass, electronica and house music, the production being geared more towards a young college age audience.

During the late 90''s, Josh was signed to EMI publishing in Scandinavia, living in Stockholm, Sweden.
While there Harris recorded as a featured soloist on Bjorn J:Son Lindh''s CD "In The Air", LCM Records/ BMG (dist). Many of the songs on "Cool Water Slow" were recorded in Sweden. Also in Stockholm he formed bands with drummer Brady Blade (Emmy Lou Harris & Jewel) and Chuck Anthony, (rhythm guitar, Roy Ayers & Evelyn Champagne King) often appearing at Stockholm''s Fasching Jazz Club as well as the Lydmar Hotel, the O Bar in Stureplan, and club Stompin in the old town, where Miles, Dexter and other legendary American Jazz musicians passed through.

Josh''s career as a saxophonist started while attending Rutgers University, playing in rock bands as a freshman while studying jazz under Paul Jeffreys. As a member of the legendary Rutgers Jazz Ensemble, among his classmates were Terence Blanchard, Ralph Peterson, Thomas Chapin and Jerry Weldon to name a few.

"What Paul Jeffreys did with the program was remarkable because it was music, music, music all the time. It was an important time historically too I think because so many of the students went on to successful careers as players. Paul had us play concerts with new music several times a month as well as bringing an incredible list of artists to the school to give master classes and play concerts with the ensemble. Dexter Gordon, Johnny Griffin, James Moody, George Coleman, Monk Montgomery, Benny Powell, Arthur Rhames, Pa Pa Jo Jones, Horace Arnold, Sue Mingus and Sonny Stitt, Steve Nelson, James Spaulding, Betty Carter, Branford Marsalis and more. They were all my teachers."
