Details:
Girly. Ironic. Campy. A little naughty. These are some words which begin to describe the music of this folk-singer transplant Valley Girl from L.A. Currently residing in Seattle, Washington, Moorea Malatt is not an overly-introspective sing-to-your-guitar type of woman. She is a true performer. Moorea speaks from a young, feminine voice with an alt-country sound...but her message is universal. Love. Justice. Equality. And of course, good hair for everyone. She can write the serious and the trite simultaneously, and seeks to expand your mind. When you come to a show, be prepared for her to joke with you, make fun of herself, and try and make you sing along.

Moorea Malatt just released a self-titled 5 song EP with some of her newest songs. A Summer tour of the West Coast is in the works to support the release of this EP. She likes to be on the road as much as possible, constantly reaching new fans in new towns.

Moorea began listening to Nanci Griffith in the 10th grade and was inspired to pick up a guitar and begin writing songs of her own with the hope that her music would someday inspire others in much the same way. Country music was not popular among most high-school kids in L.A. However, as she began listening to more folk music, she slowly stopped worrying that everything she wrote had phrasing that was just a little bit Country. Moorea Malatt began to build her life around communities of like-minded folk-lovers and eventually moved to the college town of Bellingham, Washington. She played open-mics. She played universities. She played coffeehouses. She threw house concerts. She continued writing songs and began laying down tracks in a studio.

On Halloween 2003, Moorea Malatt released her first full-length studio album, "Love and Lack Thereof" with a costumed record release party at the famous Stuart''s Coffee House in Bellingham. In the summer of 2004, Moorea set of on a National tour with Seattle-based pop singer, Kristin Allen-Zito, performing in coffeehouses and bars across the country. In the course of the tour, she found that her audience was diverse: old folkies, hipsters who usually listen to pop or indie-rock, and Midwestern high school kids.

Moorea Malatt has also recently gained success as a spoken-word poet in Seattle. She has just begun to incorporate some poetry into her music sets as a way to diversify the topics she covers in her performances. She recently finished a self-published book of her poetry titled, "Pickles: Preserved Poetry." It will be available for sale through her website soon. Moorea is continuing to write new material. Her most recent work is an EP titled, Cut and Color, an acoustic album with a slightly rock-ish sound. She will begin working on her second full-length album, "The Darker Side," in Summer 2006 and it is expected out the Summer of ''07.

Moorea currently performs in Seattle Cabaret shows as "The Naked Folksinger" performing naughty pieces she has written and hot covers completely naked covered only by her guitar!
