Once again, Crispin Lee is your narrator with his gritty dialogue cutting obtuse angles across the accompanying shards of fractured guitar, tape loops and uneasy synth textures. Influences upon the Foundation''s sound can be traced far and wide from such extremes as the UK''s post-punk scene, dark ambience and of course the modern avant garde, but this release moulds them together to form something wholly unfamiliar.
There''s no-one quite like the Paranoid Foundation on today''s musical map and for that they should be applauded.
PSYCHOTROPIC ZONE REVIEW:
This time Paranoid Foundation has produced a totally ambient, electronic album probably with only synthesizers and all the songs except the couple last ones also have some spoken words. The very hallucinatory, floating "Remote" begins the album in a great way, and the mood is maintained pretty much the same for the whole, about 35 minutes long album. "The London Inducement" takes the listener into some other, weird reality. "Halcyon" has a somehow twisted soundscape. "What Remains of Us" includes more industrial sounds. Only the track "The Future" has some more identifiable notes, otherwise they just swell in weird, dark soundscapes. The dark, monotonic and effective narration on the tracks brings the album a very deep, little bit sinister atmosphere. The only correct way to listen to this album is in a horizontal position with earphones on, somewhere on the border of sleep and the waking state and a really psychedelic experience is guaranteed.
