MP3 Buffalino - It's a Shower!

Centered around the warm tones of a transistor organ, Buffalino brings folk songs to life with the power of that gathering storm—beginning with a simple strum or pick, songs gain momentum with each echo of voice and the pounding of drums.

Details:
"It''s a Shower!" is Buffalino''s follow-up to their 2004 "The Thunder Cracks Above" LP (Silos In Ohio Records). Opting for an EP release is indicative of Buffalino''s newfound respect for restraint: this collection of tracks leaves behind most, but not all, of the studio tricks of "Thunder", yet marches on with the upbeat spirit of the band''s debut.

The EP was recorded and produced by the band in a secluded waterfront house in Maine in July and August. Despite this relative creative isolation, the overarching theme of the album amounts to nothing less than a total embrace of the world at large. Meandering through a lyrical collage of survival, renewal, faithfulness and family dissolution, front man Peter King''s voice abounds with earnestness throughout the tracks.

King''s subtle vocals notwithstanding, the instrumentation on some tracks is downright crushing at times (check out "Stick To Yr Love"), and as groovy as a Caribbean summer sex party at others (see "Save the Lake). With such a range of styles and dynamics, it would be a surprise to hear a band release such a collection of songs throughout their career, much less on the same album, but this is where Buffalino has found their niche. With genre-bounding, dynamic-defying deftness, the boys of Buffalino have returned, and it''s a mighty fine return indeed.

P.S. Listen to "Brownbeard". You won''t be disappointed.
