Bio: Devon Hines better known as Devo is the answer to a lot of prayers of those that live in this sometimes dark and troublesome world, with his soft and silky voice embedded around spiritually uplifting and motivational lyrics he has become a virtual lighthouse to those hearts, minds and souls that need direction. This amazing talent resides in the beautiful city of Conyers Georgia, a suburb of the great city of Atlanta, which as most know has become the mecca of almost all musical genres that has produced many of the top artist and mainstream musical movements of the last decade. There is no surprise, that because his upbringing was near this musical mecca(Atlanta) and having the support, inspiration and positive influences of his mother and father, that Devo would grow to have a love and passion for music. At the young innocent age of 8 years old Devo''s love and passion for music would be realized when his parents encouraged him to join his church''s youth choir and other multiple school choirs as he matriculated through his educational process. His exposure to those experiences honed his vocal presence and created a deeper desire to sing. According to Devo there was a defining moment that he experienced that let him know that music and singing was his true calling. "It was when I sang a song called "What The World Needs" at an event and as I sang up on stage I saw my Mother''s facial expression that without words let me know that she loved to hear me sing. I knew at that moment that this is what I was destined to do!" says Devo. At that very moment in time marks the birth of the singer, songwriter, producer and praise leader that we know today as Devo! Through out his life up to this present day he has never let go of his love and passion for music and singing. That kind of love and desire he possessed in his heart for singing brought forth a deep rooted desire to become the best at what was seen as a blessing, ultimately his gift that God gave him. In the word of God mainly referred to as the Bible there is a passage of scripture in Proverbs 18:16 that reads as so: "A man''s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men". The gift of song that Devo received has truly made room for him and has brought him before a lot of great men and women within the Music Industry. In the summer of 1999 he was afforded the opportunity to sign with Luke Records a subsidiary of Polygram. Facing this chance of a lifetime he excepted with no hesitation. Devo, then was able to work with and perform along side a number of major artist and musical acts such as Silk, Gerald Levert, the group H-Town also with several Hip Hop artist of that time such as Eric Sermon, Kieth Murray, the group 95 south, the Quad city DJs, and even did some work with powerhouse Gospel artist Marvin Sapp as a back up singer in a concert at his local church. This solidifies the fact that not only can Devo sing but he can sing with the best of them in almost any musical arena from R&B to Hip Hop/Rap to Gospel and still be effective in delivering a knock out performance. When Devo''s time with Polygram was done he then had enough time to spend with family, friends and most importantly himself. This personal time gave him the chance to really do some soul searching which allowed him to cultivate his mind, body, and spirituality back to God''s intended use for his gift of song. He then began to get back to work in the studio ,but this time with a purpose and a mission. As stated earlier he has now created a distinctive sound that incorporates his soft & silky, sometimes even seductive voice with spiritually uplifting and loving, compassionate lyrics that when put together is destined to send shock waves through the preconceived ideas about Contemporary Christian Music and Inspirational Music as a whole. When asked, What is your purpose and your message you are trying to get accomplished at this point in your musical career? Devo responded by saying: "My whole purpose and message I want to get out is to let people in the general public know that there is a God and he is gracious and loves everyone." He goes on to say, "I want people who may never go to church or normally wouldn''t listen to gospel music to have an alternative. Because my voice and music are so attractive to the ear and my lyrics are so powerful you may get halfway through the album not realizing, first of all what you are actually listening too, but that a change has already began in your heart, mind and spirit to return back to God''s intended purpose for your life". He finishes by telling everyone that: "You may come to Jesus however or from wherever you are right now and he can change your life, and that is basically my whole message". This singer, songwriter, producer and praise leader is definitely on a mission and has the talent to accomplish just that. Be on the look out for him in the near future because he will be at the top very soon!
