Details:
Born in Harrogate, England, Deborah Marlowe began her career as a concert pianist, performing solo for audiences of 3,000 at seven years of age. She started writing her own music at twelve and fell in love with pop songwriting, vocal and orchestral arranging and electronic music production as her prodigious talents developed across the Atlantic. After spending the next few years honing her writing, producing and performing skills, she moved to New York and began working with an array of artists, including Sinead O''Connor, Gloria Estefan and even the Muppets on Sesame Street''s Elmopalooza!, which won the 1999 Grammy for Best Children''s Album. She is excited to announce that the Jersey Boys Cast Album, on which she served as both performer and synth programmer, has won the 2007 Grammy for Best Musical Show Album.

After four months and sixty cities with Cyndi Lauper and Cher on the 1999 "Believe" tour, Deborah returned New York and released her solo debut, "Nice Girls Do," to rave reviews. She had become addicted to vinyl pants and 20,000 screaming fans, and spent the summer of 2000 traveling in search of ever-expanding opportunities to create and perform. After donning full body paint and conducting a 600-person nude opera at Nevada’s Burning Man Festival in 2000, she was inspired to take up a second residence and studio on the left coast. Assiduously avoiding east coast winters at her Santa Monica beach pad, she has since created full-length concept albums and/or live workshop productions of Funny Business, a show about stand-up comics, One Day in America, a collection of stories told through dance to updated classic rock tunes, and Sheba, a biblical epic built on gospel funk and Middle Eastern disco.

In her spare time, Deborah has also enjoyed a flourishing career on Broadway. She is currently performing in the hit musical Jersey Boys, serving as both Conductor and Music Technical Designer in addition to singing and playing onstage in the show. She made her Broadway conducting debut with Miss Saigon, played keyboards for Jekyll and Hyde and The Who''s Tommy and toured with the original U.S. companies of Mamma Mia!, Miss Saigon and Aspects of Love. As part of these smash hit productions, she has appeared on The Tonight Show, The Late Show with David Letterman, The Today Show, Regis and Kelly and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and she was featured on CNN''s Showbiz Today and E! Entertainment''s FYE!.

Ms. Marlowe maintains both her Chelsea and Santa Monica recording studios and writes new music for film and television during the day while performing full time on Broadway at night. Original soundtracks include teen prom movie “Choices,” award-winning short “The Reader,” and “Just a Dress,” a one-minute movie about sexual harassment on the streets of New York that you can see here: https://www.tradebit.com She also loves writing grown-up music for children and recently contributed to several ‘edutainment’ projects, such as two new Hooked On Phonics CDs and eight books for https://www.tradebit.com, a charming website that brings classic children’s books to life with original scores.

Deborah Marlowe''s new solo CD “Naked Wire” is instantly engaging. Her poignant lyrics embody both passion and integrity, while her sound, a rich blend of pop, acoustic rock and vocal orchestration, flows seamlessly from aggressive to ethereal. In live performance, Ms. Marlowe exhibits an intoxicating virtuosity that combines her seductive vocal persona with a powerful mastery of the piano. Her raw delivery has been favorably compared with such artists as Tori Amos and Alanis Morissette, while the emotional accessibility of her songs is reminiscent of Sarah McLachlan. She is currently developing a new live show to promote “Naked Wire” and looks forward to sharing her new material with audiences on both coasts.
