ALBUM REVIEW

"Ian Mouser''s, ''A Rose Revolution'' is refreshing.
As a broad overview, Ian Mouser pays an honorable tribute to his musical influences by creatively blending them all together: classic rock, ambiant alternative, old-timey blues, and all-American rock ''n'' roll. This album is well-worth adding to anyone''s collection for that reason, alone. But, looking closer, we are treated to further meticulous details. Mouser showcases his talents notably through tone choices, both in his vocals and his guitar playing. In addition to that, his writing is definitely worthy of mention. Each song stands out as its own, unique chapter, but Ian strings them together seamlessly to keep the listener involved for the entire duration of the track list.
He delivers to us a complete package in The Rose Revolution: a wonderful sense of exploration, topped off with that satisfaction we all look forward to at the end of a good story."

BIOGRAPHY:

AS A CHILD I was raised in the happy sunny hippy hills of the Williams Valley in Southern OR.
At the age of twelve I became a grunt and washed dishes and fed pack animals etc… for a camp that worked with foster children in the custody of DHS. Over the next 7 years I worked directly with youth inside the foster care system leading groups of four to eight youth into the wilderness or leading week-long camps of up to 60 people. By the time I was nineteen, I was the Program Director of boys camps and year-round follow up activities for Wilderness Trails Inc.

At the age of 21, the band I was playing with signed to a record label so I was taken out of the woods and brought to live in a penthouse in Portland OR. I recorded and toured and with a band called American Hit List for the next five years. While playing music in bands, I toured not only in the U.S. but in places as far away as the Philippines (while working with a humanitarian aid project) and had several songs played on MTV, The WB and several west coast radio stations.

AS A GUITARIST I have played in the bands; Joshua’s Dream, Squirling Dirbish, 16 Second Hum, Diana Gatto, American Hit List, The Holladays, The Bumblebees and The Rose Revolution.

AS A SOLO ARTIST I sold one of the songs from this album to be the title track for a video game called Turbulence. I am currently working with a licensing company out of Portland OR in order to continue licensing songs produced out of my basement studio. I am also soliciting local record labels in order to help support the album.

As for an OCCUPATION, I continue to work with foster children as a mentor and skills trainer. Since 2004, I have incorporated my knowledge of the studio and music into my occupation as a mentor/skills trainer. I have taught music to over 60 youths in the custody of DHS and various other organizations with the hope of providing them with a means to cope and express themselves positively. All of the youth I work with are diagnosed with behavioral and/or mental illnesses. Most of the youth have had more foster homes or stays in hospitals than they have had birthdays.

AS A MUSIC TEACHER to these youths for the past three years, I have developed a program that focuses on developing positive self-esteem in troubled youth by using music as a means to teach positive forms of self expression and to model appropriate problem solving skills. I now host a summer program and offer several year round programs that use the elements of music in order to teach small groups of students to play guitar, bass guitar, keyboards, drums and to sing. By the end of the program the students play a concert in front of their peers and take home both a live version and an in-studio, multi-tracked version of their songs. My hope is that through learning music, performing in front of their peers and recording their songs, my students will have experienced several challenges that, in the end, they were able to overcome and triumph over.

HALF THE MONEY RECIEVED from selling my album will go to this music program. The money provides instruments and recording equipment for the students to use, as well, when a particular student shows promise and the desire to continue with music I provide that student with a scholarship or attempt to get them in touch with a donor.

MY HOPE IS to incorporate my gifts as a musician and as a teacher in order to make a living and benefit those who I come in contact with. Thank you for taking the time to review my material.
Sincerely,
Ian Mouser
