Actor, Singer, Dancer, Director, and Writer Kaye Tuckerman is one huge talent, and one of Australia’s most sought after artists.
Kaye has performed in New York, London, Australia, New Zealand, and throughout Asia and Africa.
She has just recorded her first CD – ‘Siren’
Kaye will return to New York in August 2007 for a series of concerts with Broadway Composer Andrew Lippa.
Kaye Tuckerman was the winner of The New York Award at the 2003 Sydney Cabaret Convention, and was subsequently flown to Manhattan for the New York Cabaret Convention.
This honor was complimented in 2004 when she was named Broadway/Australia’s Female Cabaret Artist of the Year.
During her time in New York, Kaye performed in the city’s three premier cabaret venues. She was invited to perform her show, Man-eater, at New York’s celebrated cabaret venue, Don’t Tell Mama. She stopped the room at Jim Caruso’s famed King Kong Room and was a guest artist alongside Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Pippin, Wicked), and songwriter John Buccino at Mama Roses.
Her success in New York led to an invitation to perform in London as the featured performer at the inaugural 2004 Australian of the Year in the UK Awards (major award won by Clive James) before the High Commissioner, Hon Michael L’Strange, and approximately 250 dignitaries at the black tie gala event at Australia House on The Strand.
Kaye is a graduate of Australia’s two most prestigious arts institutions – WAAPA (The West Australian Academy for the Arts – Bachelor of Arts Music Theatre) and NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Arts – Post Graduate Diploma Directing).
On returning to Australia Kaye embarked on tours of Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide with her sell out seasons of her solo cabaret shows. Kaye’s work pushes the boundaries of cabaret with its dark, edgy European overtones. She has been described as ‘Australia’s Ute Lemper‘ by leading cabaret critics.
In ‘Man-eater! She Ate Them All’ she was described as ‘chillingly convincing and utterly arresting’. The show was performed at Sydney’s Kabarett Voltaire and the 2004 Adelaide Cabaret Festival.
Following this success came a tour de force, the confronting black comedy ‘Stalker’, a cabaret critiqued as ‘Spine-tingling’, with Kaye a ‘mod-pixie punk with a voice that literally stops you in your tracks’. ‘Stalker’ was the cabaret selected to open the Statement Cabaret Room at Sydney’s State Theatre, The Butterfly Club in Melbourne and the 2005 Adelaide Cabaret Festival.
Her latest show ‘SIREN’ was performed to rave reviews at the Sunday Spectrum Arts Program at The Adelaide Festival Centre. This moving show explores the lure of the ocean and the fate of all seafarers in the hands of the mythical ‘siren’.
Kaye has had the privilege of working with some of Broadways finest Music Theatre Composers and Directors.
At the 2004 Adelaide Cabaret Convention she worked closely with Tony Award Winning Director Richard Maltby Jnr, and Oscar Award Winning Composer David Shire, Kaye performed comedy highlights from ‘Closer than Ever’ – Miss Byrd and Back on Base. She also appeared in the world premiere of their new work ‘Take Flight.
Then in 2005, she worked closely with Broadway Composer Andrew Lippa, Kaye ‘literally tore the room apart’ with her outstanding interpretation of Kate from ‘The Wild Party’, and then bought the room to tears in the title role, as the sensitive, fragile Jen in ‘John & Jen’.
Kaye has also had the great pleasure of performing in concert with International Music Theatre Sensation Michael Ball, and in concert with Australian Music Theatre legend Rob Guest. Alongside Andrew Lippa in ‘Andrew Lippa and Friends’, and with Sharon Millerchip and Eddie Perfect in the Australian Premiere of ‘Kooky Tunes’.
Kaye recorded several songs for BBC Radio with Kit and The Widow for ‘Kit & The Widows Cocktail Hour’. ‘Miss Byrd’, from Maltby & Shires ‘Closer than Ever’, ‘Raise the Roof’ from Andrew Lippa’s ‘The Wild Party, ‘Ready for Love’ by soul diva India Arie, and the remarkable ‘Grandfather’ by Stephen Lynch.
She can also be seen in the feature films Matrix – Reloaded and Revolution.
Kaye was the vivacious host of Stagedoor Cabaret at Australia’s premier jazz venue, The Basement. The series highlighted the stars of Australian cabaret including Toni Lamond, Nancye Hayes, Stuart Wagstaff, Eddie Perfect, The Idea of North, Christa Hughes and Chloe Dallimore.
Kaye was the presenter of the Jazz Awards at The 2003 MO Awards.
Kaye has performed throughout Australia and New Zealand, South Africa, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea and Thailand in the biggest musical theatre productions to hit the stage. Most recently she appeared as Peg, and at some performances as Dusty in the world premiere of ‘Dusty – The Original Pop Diva’. Other Credits include Les Miserables, Jesus Christ Superstar, Buddy-The Buddy Holly Story, South Pacific, Sunset Boulevard, Sign of the Seahorse, Eureka and The Boy From Oz.
Kaye can be seen on the ‘Adelaide Cabaret Festival – Special’ on Ovation Channel, and on the ‘Dusty: Little by Little – Making of a Musical’ Documentary on ABC Television.

Kaye is the Creative Producer & Director of the Australian Dance Awards. Kaye has produced a sold out event featuring performances from the best commercial and independent dancers for the last 3 years The Australia Dance Awards is a gala event held each November at the Sydney Opera House.
Kaye recently travelled to Kenya to work as the Art Director on television series ‘Makutano Juntion’.
Kaye was asked to write and record the promotional song ‘Broken n Twisted’ for the Feature Horror Film ‘Wolf Creek’ with the band ‘Auxiliary One’. Reviews claim the song is ‘refreshingly unconventional’, blending elements of ‘breaks, trance, rock & classical music to create a truly unusual sound’. This song is on radio and television in Australian and the USA, and will be included in the extra’s section of the Directors Cut DVD release of the film.
