Its been a long time in the making and now The Whole World is about to witness one of the most Lyrical Artist in this life time, and all he wants is a spot amongst the most respected MC’s that ever walk this earth.

Born: 21 November 1977 Birthplace: Kingston, Jamaica
Name at birth: Kanhai Rambaran

M.E.R.C. was born in the rough areas of Kingston Jamaica, (3 golf way) which is in-between Tivoli Garden & Rema. Born in a poor stricken environment where there was a lot of political violence between the 2 political parties. Although he was in such a predicament he was always taught to respect people no matter what. As you can see M.E.R.C. is mixed, his mom is African Jamaican & his dad is Indian Jamaican. He was raised by his mom & uncle alongside his brother and little sister. At the age of 5 M.E.R.C. lost one of his eyes through a traumatic experience that will change his life forever, not to mention the other times he almost died. As you can see he had an unfortunate childhood. There was a lot of dance hall parties on his street that was hosted by the drug dealers that lived in the area. It was then that he would see artist get on stage to perform, he love the crowd reaction when the artist was on stage, but at that time he didn’t realize that this would be his life long dream.

In 1988, M.E.R.C. and his family moved to Miami Fl to pursue a better opportunity. From 1992 and there on out, music became a part of his daily life. The basement was the spot, Yes indeed, a creative genius, always hooking something up so that he can record music. With only 5 ingredients needed, A play station to play the beats, Instrumentals, Home stereo for the sound, Headset, and a Shure microphone that was tied up to a curtain rod. His mom & Neighbors complain but he still keep on doing his thing. M.E.R.C. never claim to be bad and he’s not trying to be bad, cause he knows his hot temper will make him do something that he will live to regret for the rest of his life. His motto is “any man can kill a man” but do you have the courage to face that man, face to face like a boxing match and in the end it doesn’t really matter who win or lose because in his eyes you‘ll both a man for standing your ground. Always hanging out with the wrong crowd. He sold weed but nothing more, although he had the opportunity to make more money from selling crack, coke and other hard drugs, he pass because all he need was money to support his music. He perform at local clubs in coconut grove Fl.

In 1998 everything change when someone put a 12 gauge to his chest, At that moment he know that it was time for him to stop doing what he was doing and leave. So he moved to Chicago, IL to get away from his negative surroundings.

On march 4th 2000 M.E.R.C. perform at his friend (SQLC) birthday party, The Worlds Biggest Party & Concert at the V.F.W. Hall in Chicago IL. Between the years of 2000-2002 he was working on his first album at Night Dream Recording Studio/Solid Wave Records, with 20 + songs completed and was finally to the point of getting a record deal. Eventually that deal didn''t go through. Stress, hard times and jobless what to do Where do he go from here with his music career. His final answer was to build his own studio, produced his own beats and steer his career in the right direction.

In 2003 M.E.R.C. moved to Largo Fl, with years of experience tucked under his belt he created M.E.R.C. Records - Studio 21 Productions. He perform at MAJESTIC NIGHT CLUB in Clearwater Fl on April 29 2006.

“Passion is the key to achieve anything that you desire in life”

Q&A with the man himself

Q: What’s the definition of a true Recording Artist?

A: In M.E.R.C. term, it’s the ability to define you as an entity, to be able to express yourself within the barriers of music. An extension of your personality; the way you feel, thoughts, emotion etc, kind a like putting words in your diary, but instead, it’s on a record. You and the track/instrumental need to be as one. It’s all in the way you put your words together/deliver your vocals when you’re recording; Always Remember that “your vocals is an instrument”.

Q: What’s your thought on free styling?

A: Free styling is a good exercise, as far as increasing your vocal/delivery but when it comes to writing a Song/Record, Most of these MC’s/Artist don’t have the ability to structure a complete song/record; and to me, that’s very important from the beginning of a record to the end; Don’t get me wrong I’m not disrespecting MC’s/Artist that free style, but, “it is what it is”.

Q: What’s your thought on rap/hip hop music that’s playing on the radio now?

A: I think the Rap/Hip Hop Game is not versatile enough, now. There are too many MC’s/Artists that are too focus on being a Hardcore Gansta Rapper, When there main focus should be on finding themselves as an artist, improving their craft, creatively, lyrically and their delivery.

Q: What’s does M.E.R.C. means ?

A: M.E.R.C. stands for Mission Engage Release Conquer - bets believe aint no nigga alive dat can top dis nigga. (cant forget di ending line “dats di motto“ u know).

A few words of poetry: It was already written, Researching and still searching for different ways to suppress the pain, Out spoken words, Life is blurred, Confuse, tainted and rearranged to fit the lifestyle for the ones that have it all, but for the one''s that don''t, It’s a constant struggle, Work that muscle and hold your weight, Love will always over come the hate.

Final words: Make good music for your FANS! Because they’re the ones that are taking there hard earn money to go purchase your CD. Also, The main focus in LIFE is GOD, FAMILY, CLOSE FRIENDS, Taking care of your responsibilities, Making $ and showing love & supporting/respecting each other.
