Stories is an auspicious début from Austrian pianist/horn player Michael Kahr, who now spends much of his time in Sydney, Australia, and is making his mark on the vibrant scene there. Having studied with both British pianist John Taylor and New Zealander Mike Nock, one would expect to hear a confluence of European impressionism and a solid rooting in the American tradition, and that’s exactly what you get.
