Details:
Venezuelan vocalist whose music and singing studies have been tutored by the acclaimed Masters Lina Brando, Humberto Diez, César Muñoz and Pedro Salas in Caracas. In addition, she received "Masters Lessons" with David Sorrin Colyer in New York, teacher of Liza Minelli and Tony Bennet, and in Madrid, with Professor Helena Vallalta of Escuela Superior de Canto. Such studies have been combined, uninterruptedly, with the recording of jingles for over 15 years. As a girl she participated in excellent choral groupings like the Philharmonic of Caracas Choir of Camera, directed by Maestro Aldemaro Romero. She has also participated in the acting world as much in TV as in Theater, including Mariela Romero`s theater success, under the Direction of Armando Gota, "Nosotros... que nos quisimos tanto", together with the first actor Gustavo Rodríguez.

She was invited by the extraordinary singer Leny Andrade, one of the international Brazilian Jazz landmarks, to perform next to her in the Theater Teresa Carreño for the Festival "Brasil in Caracas 96 "; and in the same Theater in 2001, next to the renowned singer Mercedes Sosa. She has shared the scene in different theaters with artists of the stature of Simón Díaz, Aldemaro Romero, Saul Vera, Nancy Toro, Esperanza Márquez, María Rivas, Gisela Guédez, Guillermo Carrasco, Alberto Naranjo, Eddy Pérez, among many others.

In 2000 she was nominated as the "Musical Revelation of the Year" at the National Artist Award for her first record "Brasil en blanco y negro", comprising a delicate Bossanova repertoire, the arrangements and guitar by Gustavo Caruci, Luis Julio Toro in the flute and Nene Quintero in percussion.

In 2001 the records label Latin World Productions produced her second CD with the incomparable music of maestro Aldemaro Romero: "Aldemareando". For that she counted with the participation of great national musical figures: Aldemaro Romero at the piano, supporting and presenting the disc; Simón Díaz, Ilan Chester, Ensemble Gurrufío and Otmaro Ruiz, guaranteeing the quality that characterizes the production work and musical direction of Gustavo Carucí, also nominated for the National Artist Award for three consecutive years as the "Best Arranger of the Year ".

About this production, Magister Aldemaro Romero wrote:

...Calls the attention, pleasingly, the set of merits this novel singer is adorned with: surprising natural ear, impeccable tuning, exact rhythm... in short, a musicality belonging to the natural musicians, because it has already been said: there are musician singers or simply singers. Ofelia is of the first, privileged in her original condition, because from such a special talent derives her enviable romantic-jazzistic phrasing, that special seal that sets her apart from the rest...

In 2004 she recorded her third disc "Vino Tinto", the result of the work around Henry Martínez romantic music, renowned Venezuelan composer of fruitful and very distinguished trajectory. This disc summarizes songs already conforming the song book of the contemporary urban Venezuela, and some inedited specially prepared for this production. In this opportunity, again under the musical direction and arrangements of the Maestro Gustavo Carucí, she counted on the participation of Guillermo Carrasco, Vìctor Mestas, Andrés Briceño, "Nené" Quintero, Luis Julio Toro and the Vocal Ensemble Cíncopa, among others.

In November of 2004 she launched this last production together with the Municipal Symphonic Orchestra of Caracas directed by Maestro Rodolfo Saglinbeni and accompanied by recognized musicians of the country.

In words of Magister Henry Martínez himself:

"What I can say to those who read this sincere reflection? Who sculpts the themes as sculpting a stature? Who flies over the textual history as an angel would? Who walks on harmonies with rose petal feet not to awake the phrases, but to leave them, that for certain, its perfume? Who knows the scales well where she dares to intimidate the pure-blooded notes of the primary melody? Who carries in her pronunciations an immense box of crayons to obtain those shadings and air contrasts that made us look for her without knowing her? Who sinks in the rhythmical waves and returns from them with that smile that denotes the authentic knowledge of the sea where she dares? (...)It is great the honor of having been sung by Ofelia, of being her wood in this disc, to have been studied and understood (....). Hopefully you agree with me and always take her with you, as I do.
