Latin Sampling is a project that unites five colombian musicians that have been sharing the same dream, the same philosophy and the same passion for music from a young age.
The band emerged in Barranqilla in 1997 when the bandmates were absolving their high school studies. After taking part in renown festivals such as "Barranquijazz", "Fesujazz" and others, the young quintet travels to Germany representing Colombia at an International Jazz Contest in Hamburg, in which they were awarded the first place.
Due to this success Latin Sampling was also awarded a Grant by the German Music Council in Bonn, which allowed them to go back to Germany and continue their Studies at different Conservatoriums in the country.
Since 2002 the 5 Colombian youngsters have been studying in Cologne, Essen and Mannheim continuing the musical development of the band. The different musical genres and the variety of styles that every one of them is faced with today play an important part in the creation of their music. In every one of their compositions and arrangements Latin Sampling combines elements of latin music with colorful ambiences and harmonious textures influenced by jazz and pop music.
