If you can stir emotions, people will listen. That is the guiding principle behind Mainstream. The band formed in 1998 when headmen Mike Smith and Matt Sanders joined forces to write music in their free time. In time, they realized that they had a good thing going and were so successful that they decided to form a band. Thus, Mainstream came into existence. In 2002, the band released their debut album, titled Open Your Eyes. It consists of 9 original songs, recorded with Area 51 guitarist Brett Humber at The Sound Foundry in Kingsville, ON. Listen to these mostly acoustic, emotional tracks and you will recognize the vast potential of these budding Canadian song-writers. Currently, Mainstream is writing material for their second release due out in 2006.
Mike and Matt are seasoned professionals who have been writing and performing for years. Pop Rock bands such as Dave Matthews Band, The Goo Goo Dolls, Dashboard Confessional and John Mayer have been major influences of Mainstream over the years.
