THE FOURTH MAN IN THE FIRE

After 9-11, primetime TV aired a program about three firefighters who were trapped in a blazing warehouse fire. They told of the intense heat and smoke that was so thick that they could barely see. All appeared to be lost, and time was running out. Suddenly, out of the smoke and flames, appeared a fourth man. He motioned to them to follow him and then he led them to safety. That fourth man was their Fire Chief, who had come in to get them when they failed to come out of the blazing warehouse.
It was a little different for three children cast into a fiery furnace by an ancient angry king. The fourth man was already in the fire waiting to deliver them from the intense heat. Because of Him, the children survived the furnace without even one hair on their heads getting singed. They came out of the fire alive and not even smelling like smoke! Their “Fourth Man in the Fire” was their God.
That very God created heaven and earth, and every living thing. He declared in His word that all of mankind has sinned and come short of His glory, and that the punishment of man’s sins is a death of eternal confinement in a lake of fire, located in the depths of Hell . . . a prison originally created for fallen angels. Yet, God loved us (His creation) so much, that He sent His son to pay for our sins by dying on a Roman cross in our place; so that we could be reconciled unto God as friends. Jesus Christ became our “Fourth Man in the Fire” to keep us out of Hell.
No greater gift can a man give than to lay down his life for his friends. He who has Christ will have life. He who rejects Christ is condemned already.
Please, ask God to forgive you of your sins and then extend your heart to the “Fourth Man in the Fire” . . . Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world. Do it now . . . today is your day of salvation!
