PSYCHEDELTA (Memphis,TN) is the latest musical project featuring songwriter/guitarist Robert Allen Parker. The sound of the band incorporates psychedelia, hard rock riffs, progressive interludes, and ironclad melodies. In the words of Robert Allen Parker: “cosmic concrete rock.” The band began in early 2005 as a side project of Parker and Wynn by the name of “Amerika.” As more songs were written and more shows were played, they decided to make it more serious and record a full length CD. The band spent an extensive amount of time in 2006 recording the result: “Dark Sun Messenger.”
The CD was produced and engineered by Chris Swenson at his Memphis Independent recording studio. Swenson has also become the bassist – completing the lineup. The band’s recording and performance activities have been documented by Nan Nunes Hackman for the upcoming “BROKEN STRING” film. On tracks like “Space Invader” and “Saturnday,” the horn section of Hope Clayburn and Paul Morelli adds a majestic bliss to the proceedings. The CD also features grandiose artwork by legendary Memphis artist Tom Foster.
