It's all a question of how fast you want to see results. I always advise students with advice that's similar to what Sean said here, which is that until you turn a profit on a site (or sites), don't spend money on them.
Find out what works through your own experience, then ramp it up to the moon through outsourcing and services. That's exactly what any good Adsense teacher should be telling people, and it's exactly what Sean teaches in his guide.

Yeah, I've gotten stalled out, too.
And it's usually at the point of building backlinks. I am on a quest for ways to build backlinks that doesn't take much time.
I mean, I even have all kinds of software to do amazing automated things, but I often have trouble finding the time to set them up for every single site that I have.
