"The Greg Harris Vibe Quintet is equally adept at long, dreamy, ruminative pieces and more aggressive, driving numbers." Open Space is "unfailingly lush and rich." -All About https://www.tradebit.com

"The grooves are every bit as enjoyable as the solos. Open Space overflows with good vibes, in more ways than one." -Westword Newspaper (Denver)

"The tunes are so well-written that even the classical music junkies religiously attend the shows," says Jennie Dorris in the Daily Camera. "They have a lot of energy and know how to relate to a younger audience."

Vibraphonist Greg Harris leads his own "Vibe Quintet," is a member of Bluegrass legend Pete Wernick''s Flexigrass, hip-hop/jazz/soul group Future Jazz Project, After Midnight Jazz Band and has 4 released albums- Greg Harris Vibe Quintet "Open Space," "Frames Live," Prospector "Memory of Pilots" featuring trumpeter Ron Miles, and "World Citizen" with West African master xylophonist Aaron Bebe Sukura.

He received an M.M. in Music Performance, Percussion at the University of Colorado, Boulder and a Music Education and Music Performance Bachelor of Arts degree from Fort Lewis College. Greg is a private instructor and freelance musician in the Denver/Boulder area.

Aside from his jazz experience, Greg has traveled and studied in Ghana, West Africa. Ethnomusicologist and CU professor Kwasi Ampene took the graduate student along as an assistant. In Ghana, Greg learned from xylophone masters Kakraba Lobi, S.K. Kakraba, and Aaron Bebe Sukura and drumming with Johnson Kemeh. The experience changed both his world perspective and rhythmic style as a percussionist."I was the only obrunni (white boy) walking around over there," he laughs. "I would go out late night to these small Muslim towns and take a xylophone lesson from a xylophone master guy. I stood out like a sore thumb but they were so inviting." Master xylophonist Bebe even traveled from Ghana to play with Harris in the U.S., and Harris has also toured Ireland.

Greg also became fascinated with frame drums, and explored styles from Ireland, the Middle East, and North Africa. He often utilizes these influences in compositions and performances. He has toured and recorded with West African master musician Aaron Bebe Sukura, and toured internationally with banjo legend Pete Wernick''s Live Five/FLEXIGRASS.
