Details:
WHO IS CAROLE FREDERICKS? A phenomenal voice... a legendary musical presence...overflowing generosity... strength and simplicity. Carole Fredericks succumbed to a heart attack June 7, 2001 while on tour in Dakar, Senegal (West Africa). She was 49 years old. In 1979, she emigrated to France. Although French was not her native tongue, Fredericks mastered the language and became a renowned recording artist in the French-speaking world. For more than 22 years Paris, France was her home. Know as "Black Mama" to millions of music fans around the world, Fredericks'' vocal style gave birth to the soulful rhythm and blues sounds prevalent in contemporary French rock music. Her death left an unmistakable void in the music world and in the hearts of millions of fans. The French Ministry of Culture requested that Fredericks be laid to rest with other luminaries in historic Montmartre Cemetary.
