Below are the installation docs for JV Affiliate Manager

Before you start with the scripts, login to your server and go to your cgi-bin. Create a directory in your cgi-bin, you can name it whatever you want, in this example we will call it "jv". Inside the "jv" directory, create another directory called "data", it must be called data. Now go into the "data" directory and create 6 more directories called:

archives
hits
messages
notes
sales
track

They all MUST be named exactly as they appear above. Now chmod the data directory and all of the directories inside the data directory to 777.

Onto the scripts!
Open all .cgi files and make sure the first line is the correct path to perl. Now upload them all to your "jv" directory in ASCII format(do not upload them in binary) and chmod them all to 755. Upload https://www.tradebit.com, paypal.txt, stormpay.txt, and https://www.tradebit.coml to the same directory and chmod them to 777.

All done! That was easy ehh? Now it is time to setup the program. Type the URL to the https://www.tradebit.com file in your broswer and use "test" as the password to login. Once you are in, go directly to the last link called "Change Settings". The table below explains how to set it up.

Path to sendmail Put your full path to sendmail (i.e. /usr/sbin/sendmail ) URL to the admin script Full URL to the https://www.tradebit.com script Path to data directory (no trailing slash) Full path to the data directory (i.e. /home/www/username/cgi-bin/jv/data ) URL to https://www.tradebit.com script Full URL to the https://www.tradebit.com script URL to https://www.tradebit.com script Full URL to the https://www.tradebit.com script URL to https://www.tradebit.com script Full URL to the https://www.tradebit.com script Administrator's Email Address markjohnsononline@https://www.tradebit.com Password Think of a password Again Type it again (CaSe SeNsItIvE) Default referring URL Type in the full URL to where you want them to go when somebody clicks on an JV partner's link Sale Image URL to sale image Total Hit Image URL to hit image How Many Levels? This will allow JV partners to be able to view their downline. If above is at "1", allow them to email their downline? Put a 1 for yes and a 0 for no. This will display a button that takes the partner to a mailform so they can send a mass personalized mailing to their downline. Admin approve signups? Put a 1 for yes and a 0 for no. URL of integration Put the full path of the image or the full URL to the page you want to redirect to after a sale here. Referring URL protection? Put a 1 here if you want to limit access to https://www.tradebit.com to one URL. If the above is set to 1, put the exact URL that will be able to access https://www.tradebit.com.

Integrating with your ordering system

You can pretty much integrate with any payment system out there with the options that JV Affiliate Manager gives you.

* Image Tag - This is probably the simplest way to integrate the script. All your payment system has to do is to have the final purchase amount(if you are paying by percentage) on the thank you page after an order has been made. If you are paying flat fees, then you dont even need the final amount. All you do is link to the script using an image tag and the final purchase amount like so:

* Redirect - This works by forwarding the visitor to the URL with the amount variable right in the URL. So your order form would just send the customer to:
https://www.tradebit.com
Then it would look for the affiliate, do commissions, then forward the customer on to the URL that you put in for "URL of integration"

After you get the settings form filled out, log back in and create all of the emails and HTML for the script to run off of. This should be the very next thing you do so that you do not get any "Could not open template" errors.

Paypal and Stormpay Instant Commission feature.

This system can pay your affiliates instantly on one tier using Paypal and Stormpay as payment processors.

To set this up, you will take the https://www.tradebit.coml file and replace it with your sales letter. Make sure to put the tags and inside the HTML of the sales letter whever you want the order buttons for paypal and stormpay to be.

Next, open up paypal.txt and stormpay.txt. This is the button HTML that those two processors use. You can go to https://www.tradebit.com or https://www.tradebit.com and create the buttons and then paste them in here if you wish, or you can just edit the HTML right in this file.

The only thing that needs to be changed is the field for the payee's email address. Replace that with for paypal.txt and for stormpay.txt

Once you do the above, type the full URL to the https://www.tradebit.com file on your server. It will read the JV partner's cookie or IP address from the visitors and display the proper payment email for the visitor to pay the JV Partner directly.

If you are going to use this system, then your default URL that https://www.tradebit.com will redict to needs to be https://www.tradebit.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

I get the error "Cannot open file(No such file or directoy)"

This means that you either have a folder in the "data" directory setup wrong(spelled wrong, or not set to 777) or you have your data path enter wrong in the settings area. Make sure you are not using an URL for the data path instead of an actual path. A path looks like this:

/home/user/username/cgi-bin/jv/data

Where are URL would be:

https://www.tradebit.com

The above path is just an example, if you do not know your path, ask you webhost :) A wrong data path is the number 1 problem with setting up this script.

I get a "page not found" or "internal server" error when I run a script

Page not found usually means that your server does not have the https://www.tradebit.com module installed. This is a very popular module used by thousands of perl programs and you should definately have it installed on your server. This is something your webhost will have to do, send them an email and they will most likely install it right away. If they do not install it, you need another webhost :) It is a pretty important module.

An Internal Server Error means that the permissions on the file are not set right.

Which integration method should I choose?

This completely depends on the payment gateway you are using. If you have multiple products, then you are going to need to have your payment system display the total amount(if you are paying partner by percentage) either in a redirect URL, or on the thank you page.

If you are using a shopping cart, it needs to either be able to forward to the https://www.tradebit.com URL with the total amount in it(see above) or use an image tag to activate the https://www.tradebit.com.

If you are using https://www.tradebit.com, then it is very simple to install. Just have https://www.tradebit.com to post the order information to the script. Ibill and Anacom work this exact same way.

If you are using a third party, like https://www.tradebit.com, then you can just use an image tag on a static HTML page to call the script, no problem :)

That is pretty much all I can tell you about installing the script. If the script just flat out won't work on your server, you should probably be looking for a new webhost. This script has nothing special about it, no special modules are needed, nothing. If this script won't work on your server, than neither will 90 of the other cgi programs out there.

A Few Tips

The "Edit Pages" section is quite unique. You can add product pages for your partners to promote. All you have to do is add the code, and then the URL in to create the product page. Like this:
code = mmp
URL = https://www.tradebit.com
Now all partners have to do to promote that specific page is just add ?mmp to the end of their URLs.

Tracker IDs - When you create the links page, you should tell partners that they can change "ad" to anything they want and it will show up in their partner login area when that specific tracker gets traffic. This is the most powerful feature in JV Affiliate Manager and you should definately teach partners how to use it!

Archives - The archives section is created whenever you make a payout to partners, it will archive all of the information that you paid out so you can view it later. I plan to use this feature so that I do not have to pay out all partners on one day, but rather split it up over a few days. Pretty neat.

Clean files - this feature is needed in every partner program, but none seem to have it. This is to erase old data that isn't really being used by the system so that your partner program can run smoothly. I suggest logging into this section once per month and erasing any sale files and hit files that are more than 3 months old. You can choose 4,5, or 6 of course, but I dont think partners need to know if they got any traffic 4 months ago, therefore, it is just taking up space and with this section, you can easily get rid of it.
