BIOGRAPHY

When the members of Ohio based rock/funk/R&B band CATWALKBLUE first got together musically, they had no idea they''d become one of the areas most sought after bands, with a full schedule of performances at clubs, concerts and colleges all throughout the year.

CATWALKBLUE (CWB) first started performing together in the Fall of 2001 while all in college, playing fraternity parties and bars around the Case Western Reserve University campus. They actually built a large following this way and were soon in demand. This young group of hard-working students included singer/songwriter/pianist Eric Selner, a Case Western Reserve graduate, vocalist/guitarist Greg Garwood, a John Carroll University graduate, bassist Matt Miller, an Ohio Northern University graduate. Saxophone player Matt Horwich, also a Case Western Reserve graduate, and drummer Myron Gardner are the band''s newest members.

Selner, Miller & Garwood have actually known each other since their early days at Hudson High School in Hudson, Ohio. Their early musical years were spent playing in bands The Seven Kings and Fiscal Policy. The guys were soon writing songs together and started experimenting in local recording studios.

CATWALKBLUE''s early musical influences played a large part in developing their current sound, which mixes various musical genres.........mainly a hybrid of funk and rock-n-roll. They grew up on classic rock legends like Led Zeppelin, Carlos Santana, The Allman Brothers Band and The Rolling Stones, as well as Jazz greats John Coltrane & Herbie Hancock. Newer bands like The Dave Matthews Band, Jamiroquai, The Black Crowes, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Scofield and Galactic were also strong influences.

Growing up, vocalist/pianist Eric Selner started on the piano at age 3. His parents kept several pianos in the house and were hoping he''d become a concert pianist. Bassist Matt Miller played bass & electric guitar starting at age 12 and played string bass in the high school orchestra. Vocalist/guitarist Greg Garwood started guitar around age 16, while listening to Santana, The Doobie Brothers, Eric Clapton and blues singer John Mayall. Sax player Matt Horwich played in his school band as well, but left to pursue his own musical style, becoming a well-known entity on the Cleveland Jazz scene. CATWALKBLUE''s newest addition, drummer Myron Gardner, is a Cleveland native who grew up in a musical household, as his father was a Jazz trumpet player. He started playing drums at age 4 and grew up on Jazz greats like Art Blakey, Max Roach, Dennis Chambers and David Sanborn, while attending the Cleveland School For The Arts.

This tightly knit circle of Selner, Garwood & Miller all remained close during their college years, when they officially formed CATWALKBLUE. Now they keep a rigorous schedule of rehearsing, performing and writing new material. Eric Selner writes most of the lyrics and music.....coming up with ideas and moods for a song, with the other members contributing their own musical ideas. The group has recently opened the show for R&B legends Earth, Wind & Fire this past June, playing for 7,000 people at the Scene Pavillion and also played for a similar crowd before George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars at Cleveland''s Tower City Amphitheater.

CATWALKBLUE is probably the most well-educated and hard-working band in Ohio........who else can boast band members with majors in chemical engineering, international business, etc., while maintaining their musical edge. CATWALKBLUE recorded their first CD last year (available on their website https://www.tradebit.com and at their shows) and have just released a brand new five-song, self-titled CD which was recorded at Closer Look Studios in Cleveland. The new CD is also available on the band''s website, as well as in select Border''s and Record Exchange stores.
