Details:
Christian artist/songwriter Lisa Houston was born in 1963 and raised in Oxnard, California. With a love for Christian music and ministry sounds, Houston has been serving the Lord with her vibrant music, and now she is ready to share her long-awaited debut album SPREAD THE LOVE. As a child Lisa loved singing in front of her mother’s gold-framed living room mirror and console stereo. It could have been a brush, wooden spoon, crystal candle holder –or her favorite, a pencil while she was doing her homework. Music became more than self-expression and more about communication through Christian music and faith-driven songs. Lisa has a great message for the world with a singing voice perfectly suited to communicate the encouraging messages of the Lord. Her endearing presence and friendly down-to-earth style bring her into a new level in her career.

Lisa Houston was raised as the youngest of three siblings and grew up in a household where she was exposed to her father (Herbert Harvey) and grandmother’s God-given musical gift as well as other artists. R & B Singer/Soul-writer Patti LaBelle is one of Lisa Houston’s biggest musical influences. In Houston’s view, Patti La Belle is the supreme performer with the abilities to connect to audiences like no one else. Like Patti, Lisa''s ministry and style know no ethnic or cultural boundaries and can reach many ages and musical tastes. Among other inspirations are many 70’s and 80’s bands like Earth Wind & Fire, War, Average White Band, and Patrice Rushen. Houston also admires Helen Baylor in the Christian music community. “Her songs were some of the first that I sang at my concerts.”

After many trials and disappointments, Lisa Houston held to the promise she made to her father to continue singing for the Lord and use that gift for him. Lisa’s father passed away in 1991, the same day in which Lisa had a singing audition with Harvey Fuqa. Lisa Houston never had the moment to share with her father what happened to her that day, instead she sang “The Lord Prayer” at his funeral. This was the last song her father taught her to sing for a wedding that year. Strengthened by this loss and her father’s last words to sing for the Lord and use that gift for him, Lisa Houston continues reaching out to people with uplifting ministry songs. With the endless support of Lisa’s father and mother these real-life incidences can only inspire Lisa more in her quest to spread the love.

In 1992 Lisa Houston joined her first singing contest and won. From that day she knew that she could fulfill her father’s promise and sing for the Lord. From singing contests and clubs to karaoke bars and weddings, Lisa’s mission to communicate encouraging messages from God to music lovers, always followed her. Lisa Houston interacts with her audiences as if each person were her personal friend. She is not just a performer, she has been a wife for eleven years, mother of two boys ages nine and eight.

Lisa has always impacted lives and inspired listeners with her warm vocals and heartfelt ballads. With the belief and support of Falcon Records and very talented musicians, Lisa Houston has put forth an album made out of the love for God. When Executive Producers Al Estill and Jimmy Mac of Falcon Records heard her voice, and noticed her very devoted following and setbacks in the music industry, the story of Lisa Houston changed. Inspired by her heart-felt testimony at The Spirit Bowl in Ojai in 2005, and how she had been taken back by someone in the music industry, Jimmy Mac knew that the Lord wanted him to speak to her. God has clearly blessed her with a talent and charisma meant for her to continue to bless lives as she communicates her message “Spread the love!”

Lisa Houston’s 2007 anticipated debut album SPREAD THE LOVE puts forth a remarkable level in her career, offering an eclectic selection of faith-driven and inspiring songs. Songwriting is something that comes naturally to Lisa Houston. With thirteen tracks that include eleven original songs co-written by Lisa Houston and Jimmy Mac, a remake of “Yamo Be There” and other trademark songs, Lisa is ready to energize and refresh her audiences with purely inspirational songs. From her hand-clapping classics to her slower Christian ballads that melt your heart, Lisa has won the hearts of Ventura County and several National and International listeners. “I truly saw the hand of God working on this album,” Says Lisa Houston. The release of SPREAD THE LOVE sums up her ministry in song by declaring "Let there be peace, let there be joy, let there be love, we need to love one another," but to really experience Lisa Houston’s style, you need to see her perform live! Lisa grabs hold of her audience the moment she steps on stage and takes them with her on a journey into the presence of the Almighty.
