Details:
The Indoor Kids are a musical collective based in Chicago, Illinois (the Middle Coast). Formed in 2004, their innovative and imaginative sound vividly illustrates a constant desire to push the envelope, with no musical genre left unscathed. For the discernable listener, the music can be used as a unique personality identifier offering glimpses of the band’s many influences (both musical and otherwise). Two parts serious, one part spastic, and one part absolutely malfunctioning, the band just likes to make music. Period. The Indoor Kids are currently preparing themselves (and the world) for the release of their new, self-titled, debut, completely audible, full-length album due out in stores and online sometime in June 2007. You can catch them around the Midwest this summer at various bars, clubs, and boarding schools. Concurrent with the album release, their new website will be launching and should prove to be thoroughly irreverent and exhaustive. Thanks for looking and listening!

The Indoor Kids are:

Bryan Manasse (lead and backing vocals, acoustic and electric guitars)
A Chicagoland native, Bryan formed the band in 2004 and the songs that were in his head finally made it out. Bryan has played guitar since age 15 but also enjoys playing drums (almost just as much). He recently received his Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from the University of Illinois and is looking for a day job. Know of any?

Daniel Huber (Dan1, backing vocals, electric and upright basses)
Daniel comes to us from Toledo, OH where he menaced the community to the point of insanity. As a release, he picked up a bass in high school, ending up with a self-designed Bachelor’s Degree in Bass Composition. Daniel is currently the trusted musical proctor of many suburban children and adults, teaching guitar, bass, and strong, positive life skills. He can also be found in the Chicago band Mos Funnel (shameless plug).

Dan Kuemmel (Dan2, drums, percussion, accordion, Happy Apple)
Cover your children and lock up your pots ‘n’ pans because Dan Kuemmel will hit them. Well, not the children…but everything else. He has played drums for several prominent and national acts before settling down in Chicago and kickin’ it with the ‘Kids. Hailing from Madison, WI, Dan2 enjoys cheese curds, Brett Favre, and ponies. Dan2 graduated from U of W Madison with a journalism degree and, prior to his return to Chicago, was a correspondent for the Associated Press in the Virgin Islands. He also plays with Madison sensations Dietrich Gosser and The Bracelets. Nicely we might add.

Honorary Indoor Kids:

Dan Spielman (Dan3, backing vocals, harmonica, acoustic guitars, slide guitars, mandolin)
A Dan-of-all-trades, Dan Spielman is also a Chicagoland native. Dan3 gives The Indoor Kids’ love a cherry through his brilliant auxiliary intonations and flexible expectations. When not playing music, Dan3 can be found on the USS Jenny trying to catch you a delicious bass.

Kate Mullaney (backing vocals)
Ms. Mullaney has sang backing vocals for the 10,000 Maniacs for several years and now, through the grace of a higher power, joins us in our musical journey. Kate is the yin to our yang, the milk to our shake, and, often times, the only voice of reason in the band. Our sole regret is only having her featured on one track of the record. Live and learn! Kate will be joining us for several shows this year as well as being more involved on the next album. Yay!

Adam Newman (backing vocals, extra guitars, production, recording, mixing)
Adam is our knight in shining armor. We have been recording with him since he moved here from Cleveland, OH about 4 years ago. What started out in his condo has now moved to the full-on studio that is Pragma. Ah, the days of recording vocals in the closet. Since then, he has recorded and mixed such acts as She’s Your Sister, The Chamber Strings, Lubriphonic, Sub Rosa, and many more. We look forward to our continued relationship with Mr. Newman and anxiously await putting more records out with him. Thanks Adam!

Phillip Amerson (live recording and production)
Phillip hails from South Carolina and has been graciously recording the band’s live shows for several years. Also an accomplished musician, Phillip is the singer/guitarist of the Chicago band, Bitterson (Bryan played drums with them for many shows). If you’re looking for a smooth-drawled Southerner, Phillip’s your man.
