Details:
The unique breed that is embodied In Nick Phillips keeps the roots of old style classical music. His style is an eclectic form of classical composition. Maestro’s Project, Nicks’ debut album, consists of pieces that portray the Revelations of Jesus Christ. His spirituality transcends through harmony in a mood that is epic adventure with a powerful sense of Glory. Nick Phillips hopes to influence musicians and music lovers with the essence of God.

In 1993, at the age of nine, Nick was inspired from the ‘Moonlight Sonata’ by Ludwig Van Beethoven. A video game introduced him to the piece. In this case, video games paid off! That Christmas, he was given the gift of a Keyboard. Secretly obsessed, he spent the next three months teaching himself the ‘Moonlight Sonata’, referencing only a beginners’ book. His mother, pale with amazement at his level of performance, had him checked for Autism. Nick was informed that he was taking these tests to see if he was “special”. Of course at this age special meant good, so he went along with the tests.

Nick instilled a different form of practice, being that he was self taught for a substantial amount in his life. At age 12 , Nick underwent piano and composition lessons from Janet Pellanda. Janet instructed Nick for a remainder of three years. Janet knew how to create a bond between her and a student, essentially by promoting his creativity. She also instilled a balance of technique and composition, which she called “eating your vegetables”. In the beginning of his learning stage he performed intermediate to advanced masterpieces. Rarely at Nicks’ young age, he loved to practice and interpret classical music for sometimes up to 24 hours at a time. His obsession turn into accession, and with accession Nick hoped it would turn into succession. Upon analyzing the music from the masters, Nick would challenge himself at the piano. He noticed that learning the masterpieces has an exceptional purpose. The purpose was for his creativity. After his technique and theory he would sit down for hours and improvise his own creation. After realizing his talent for painting a picture with sound, he began strengthening his love for classical style composition. Through the years of long practice Nick studied and analyzed the masters and geniuses of music history. He developed his own style by applying many techniques and theories to his own pieces.

At 14 Nick started his music career by playing the piano at the mall for many hours during the day. He noticed he attracted quite the crowd with his compositions alone. Positive attention gave him the confidence to continue composing. Furthering his career in music, he experienced many different types of jobs such as: Weddings, private parties, events, concerts, and performing coffee houses. Being underage and inexperienced constricted his career. He needed to make a living as well. Running out of career choices Nick decided to sell cars at the age of 18. Selling cars was very profitable monetarily for Nick, however he did not practice the piano nearly as much.

Nick continued to work in the car business until his younger brother Joe passed away in a vehicle accident August 31, 2004. Losing Joe was sorrowful cornerstone event for him. Understanding that God could take him at any instance, Nick decided to use his talent for Gods’ will. Immediately, Nick quit the car business and began to repair his musical talent. Initially, to heal from long lasting grief, Nick created an output from composing melancholy pieces. Creating sad songs that revered his sorrow was not the answer. Although Nick felt that mourning was the answer The Bible instructed him otherwise. The book of Psalms disclosed that composing songs with a sense of glory would represent his life more accurately. At 22 years old, Nick realized that it was a gift from God and by giving it back to God nick could find infinite purpose.

Nick composed Maestro’s Project in May 2007. Maestros Project expresses his dependency of the essence of the Lord through his music. Knowing that the Joy of the Lord will continue to influence him daily. Maestros project is involved with multiple distribution companies that help him express his belief in creativity and joy in his purpose. This year Nick started a company involving musicians that want to further their career for their love of music. Nicks company is also giving to charity foundations and fundraisers. Currently, he is instructor at Langelois Music Co. in Modesto, California. He has few students but tries to lend a helping hand to those that strive to learn music. Nick hopes his music will continue to encourage musicians that haven’t had opportunities to keep working hard towards strengthening their passion. Essentially everyone has his or her own song to sing to God.
