MP3 Object - Foucault A Go Go

Moody, layered music backed by driving rhythms

10 MP3 Songs
ROCK: American Underground, WORLD: World Beat

Details:
Michel Foucault, Jacques Derrida, Paul de Man, Harold Bloom—what do all these people have to do with rock ''n'' roll? What do semiotics, deconstruction, and postmodernism have to do with alternative music? These are some of the sources of inspiration for Object’s fourth album, Foucault A Go Go. This collection of songs is probably Object’s darkest, moodiest album; however, there are tracks that show Object hasn’t lost its sense of humor. Graduate students in literature and linguistics should see the humorous side of the title track “Foucault A Go Go.”

CONTEST!!!

Object would like to thank Redickulez--that super rap group just back from their Losers in Life tour--for the vocals on “Image of the City.” Our hats are off to Tu Pacs Aday, Pace T. White, Special K, Lai Z I, and Sniff Doggie Du for their outstanding performances.

Now, for your edification, the lyrics to “Foucault A Go Go.”

Darlin’ I’m gonna have to let you go
You keep a goin’ on about Foucault
Your infatuation’s gone too far
Last year it was Jacques Derrida

Buy a magazine and follow some fashion trends
Stop hangin’ ‘round with your literary friends
Nobody cares just how much you know

You’re just another poser
Another hanger on
Dancin’ at the Foucault A Go Go

Baby drop your semiotics class
Like Paul de Man this fad is gonna pass
I’m so sick of your pretense
Harold Bloom’s startin’ to make sense

Join a bowling team and have a little fun
You know you ain''t impressing anyone
Except a bunch of art fags and postmodern hos

You’re just another poser
Another hanger on
Dancin’ at the Foucault A Go Go
