Patrick Lehman has been writing songs since his early teen years. His influences include Stevie Wonder, Lenny Kravitz, Sly and the Family Stone and Marvin Gaye.
2005 saw the birth of the Pat Lehman Band, as Pat (then a singer-songwriter) teamed up with fellow student Joel Ovadia (guitarist). The two friends had been playing together since College, where they recognized a shared love for soul, funk and rock music. Although they both had differences in their musical tastes, it was this eclectic mix of styles that made for a perfect partnership. They aspired to leave their mark on Montreal''s booming music scene.
With the nascent band in need of a drummer, Joel recruited Joe Irrera, who had engineered and produced projects that Joel had been involved in earlier . The three began rehearsing regularly , and eventually invited Lisa "Dee" Perusse, a former College schoolmate, to join the band on bass. Having toured and recorded with her former band, the recently defunct Throwback, Dee was deep into the Montreal music scene. It was an instant match, musically and personally.
Having performed all over Montreal and released a four-song demo disc in 2006, Pat Lehman Band has been focusing heavily on studio recording in 2007. A full-length release is anticipated in April, followed by tour dates all over Canada.
