I love cocktail parties. Well, actually, I really love to people watch at cocktail parties, and the eavesdropping is fascinating, too. No, really… try this – the next time you arrive at a party, go right to the bar and grab your favorite martini, mojito or diet delight. Then make your way through the crowd. As you walk, really listen to the snippets of conversations that float all around you. On one such evening recently, I observed and overheard almost every aspect of love- long time couples still gushing over each other, and other couples who’d had a fight just before they came in. There were people introducing two friends for the first time, couples celebrating years together, and singles flirting. It was all there.
The collection of songs on this recording were compiled based on my experiences and my observations over the years while at parties, in restaurants and even just walking down the street. My intention and my wish is for listeners to think of this album as a party for their ears. Buddy and I have tried to recreate a great party atmosphere with his trio – and you will notice that with few exceptions the music doesn’t stop.
